Pascoe

Whatever you think of his performance and personally i think he has done a great job with the business side but the footy side has struggled although i do think that isnt so much his role in the way our organisation has been set up and he has brought in 2 good coaches and now Sheens which are all good decisions at the time

I have absolutely no issue with him taking holidays. Everyone takes leave and during the early part of the season actually seems the right time for a ceo to take them. Sponsors are on board, members mostly the same, limited negotiation needed, prob the slowest period espcially given multiple public holidays and its also school holidays - assume he has kids . Also this year most destinations including NT were locked down over the last holidays and most of last 2 years. Id also imagine like most white collar workers including myself he can work from anywhere including Darwin - im working from a small country town while holidaying mtself over these 2 weeks.
Logical post boonboon. Not sure it fits in this thread though

Look he is entitled to vacation and normally it would be ok . However he is the CEO of an organisation that is in the media spotlight daily , performing poorly on the field in which media spotlight is upon and during the organisations “busy period “ ie season proper.

He has ample opportunities to take leave during origin period /bye period and offseason .

Would it be acceptable for a player to decide I want my one month vacation time during the season as I was injured playing for the club and was injured during the offseason (ie sick ) and didn’t get to vacation as was in rehab . No you would laugh at the player .

Yes him being there does not affect the team so much but it’s all about the optics and shows how much he cares about the team and club and this is not how you build a culture.

He should be able to take holidays when he wants. However, given he is CEO of an under fire football club, this reeks of “footy is the football departments job, not mine”.

I agree, bit of a beat up.

There are very many fans who want Pascoe to have nothing at all to do with football ops and stick entirely to the business side of the venture, where we all seem able to agree he is not totally incompetent.

But then a good bunch of those same fans want Pascoe to be around 100% of the time, to do... I don't know what? I have barely seen Pascoe interviewed or involved in media since Round 1, and it appears Tim Sheens has entirely taken on that job in his new role, which everyone seems happy about.

So exactly what is Pascoe supposed to be doing right now that he's not doing? I wouldn't ask the bloke to come back and talk to fans or provide interviews - they would howl him down anyway. Why can't Sheens and possibly Lee H handle it?

It is also to assume that the CEO has ample time in the offseason to take holidays, when in fact the opposite may be true - he may be totally flat out when the footballers and coaches are taking their break.

I think we need to focus on football operations and improving on-field performance, not worrying excessively on other perceived insignificants like when the CEO chooses to take a holiday.

Thank you and well said

Spend about 120 hours trying to attract some decent players maybe
I don’t care if you sack Pascoe and replace him with Jesus Christ, the joint is a poison chalice and getting marquee players here is not gonna happen to a level required to fix this in the medium term. I think we’re eating this shit sandwich for years to come unfortunately. The fact that Pascoe can bring money in the door given the stench of the joint is amazing in my eyes and I rather he focus on making us money to invest in the football department by people that know more about football than him.

By your logic, he is surplus to requirements. I agree 100%

If he was bringing ‘real money’ through the door we would be able to attract marquee players. and we wouldn’t squabble over sending our halfback to an away game: he’s a fraud.

I wouldn't claim to know. I just said I'm not aware of why Pascoe is required to be in Sydney right this very moment, and I don't care to spend any time worrying about it.

Perhaps show some interest in the team he resides over?
