Pat Richard Returns

Will be interesting to see where he plays. IMO his bes asset is his hard hole running, so he may have been brought as a centre. Or maybe Potter didnt want a bavk 3 that were all rookies. Whatever the case is, i hope Nofo is still given a chance.

When I got the members email about the new signing, I initial thought that we had signed Kennedy with all the rumors about them trying to offload him & then I thought the signing of Richards was a bit out of left field considering his age. He was one of my favorite players when he was here but hopefully we haven't paid him to much coin to come back.

Rather have the proven Richards any day over the 5 ft nofo, scores tries kicks goals biggest dropouts and as safe as houses under the high ball and a massive fend what else could you ask for.

I don't see Nofoaluma as a first grader yet anyway. To be first grade level you should be utterly dominant at NYC or NSW Cup level. Nofoaluma is one of the better players in NYC but he's not cutting reggies to shreds constantly like Koroibete or Tedesco was. He has time on his side and has a lot of talent but he's a ways off for mine.

Exactly right, there are players that absolutely dominate in NYC like Walker, Jennings and Cornish that are in NSW cup but are eligible for NYC.

So Israel is out of the picture now I suppose. Would have preferred him tbh. But money talks and we probably don't have the coin he is chasing.

I for one am stoked at Patty's return. Even today, he's still a quality player and has dominated ESL. He maybe 32 come next season but in my opinion he's worth it. I don't think Potter would've signed him unless he was still a valuable addition. Potter has seen plenty of him in recent years and with the youth we have in the backs, I think it speaks wonders for what Pat can still offer. Put it this way, he wouldn't have signed Pat if he was on the slide down, He's definitely still got something for us to gain from.

Nofo is signed for another 2 years after this one. Club won't release him. It's good that he doesn't get a walk in to 1st grade regardless.
I approve of Potter's judgement already, he's seen him rip it up in the ESL.

We actually have a young back line I don't know where people are getting this from. Other than Marshall our highest age next year is 26 or 27 and lowest 22\. If Rowdy gains some form this year we will have a very damaging back line for the next 2 years.

Potter is promoting youth! We have already had 4 debuts all in the forwards + Miller/Tedesco coming into the team. You'd think by the end of the year Luani will get a run too if not next year when Farah is on origin duties and Iosefa is gone.

If anything judge him on his next signing. The timing is getting people agitated because they were expecting a quick fix for our forwards.

If we had Sheens this weekend we'd have Miller on the bench for the whole game instead of Ava. Probably would have done some ridiculous signings as well.

Man of Steel guys. He isn't some out of form player looking to have a fresh start. This is the real deal. Amazing stats too

i would preffer Richards, Israel will be on 900k a year Richard is on 200k a year max. With that 700k we can re-sign Galloway and sign another prop.

I agree we will have him sharing the back 3 with tedesco and Koroibete next year both 21 so they will need some experience and from what I've heard pat is the ultimate professional so age shouldn't be an issue especially as he plays a wing game about power more then youthful speed -much better wing option then reddy or Utai or most of the nrl wingers IMO

As for Israel as the comment above says $1 million v 200k

If Pat Richards was to have signed with the Storm instead i bet there would have been more complaints about the management missing out on signing him than the fact we did sign him. Great to have him back!!!

Welcome Back Pat.

I've watched a lot of ESL and Pat is still killing it.

Remember he played the GF with a broken foot. Legend!

I think he's a good depth signing and would not have cost a great deal. I don't think he's an automatic FG selection just yet, but his body has probably held up well over in the UK and he does have a handy boot on him n is a good finisher and good under the high ball.

I think Nofoaluma and Mr T will be pushing hard for a FG spot next next year although this signing certainly spells the end for Tuqiri, Utai and probably Reddy who are all off contract.

Pretty excited about this. Will be plenty of power to our flanks.

Anyone know how his pace is these days? We all know Lote has lost his pace over the years. That's my only concern, but I guess theres the possibility he may go to centre and use his power to set up his outside man. That being said players who go to Super league normally come back a lot healthier and fresher than someone of the same age who has played their entire career in the NRL.

Have we still got his witches hat (sorry kicking tee) for his kick offs ??

At least he won't kick it dead on the full every second game

The ball might about 3 minutes to land though

Pat is a left winger yes so will be interesting to see who goes to the right -I imagine Koroibete will swap sides as one of pats big strength is his fend which works better on one side

Why are people comparing Richards to Lyon and Hodges? Big Pat goes well but his best game is not in the same class as those two.
