This is great news! I'm a big fan of his, and can't wait to see him and koro on the flanks

I quite like it! He's been dominating ESL and he ONLY got better after leaving the NRL. His experience will be invaluable when our inexperienced back 3 take the field (teddy and koro). And i doubt he is on a huge salary people; similar to Braith's I would guess, 200-300k max.

Lote also signed with the tigers at 30 years of age and was fantastic in 2010/11 when not injured. If Pat remains injury free he will be an amazing asset for 2014/15 i think (hope).

ditto, massive fan

After watching him in 2005 play the Grand final with a fractured ankle, was waiting and waiting for his return.

But now….8 years on....worried he may be a bit on the older side.

Remembered he was strong and had a great fend...bulldozed other wingers.

Seems he playing well over there, leading point sccorer again this season. Hope he lives up to the hype

Can you name the wingers we have for 2014?

Pat Richards was a great player theres do doubt about that..he Won the 2010 man of steel award in the Super League and I think currently he is still playing good football. Mick Potter would have seen a lot of his capabilities during his coaching teniture in Super League. The problem I see is that he will be 33 years of age when he joins back with the Tigers. He was out in 2011 for 6 months after doing his Achilles..I can assure you he has come back to do a stint with the Tigers before he retires. Looks like we have become a nursing home for players on their way out such as Tuquri, Anasta etc. If the Tigers are looking for players with experience surely they can find someone in their late 20s instead of 30+year olds.

Your avatar is shameful.

Agreed about his avatar

By the way Pat will be 31 when he joins the club and then will turn 32 at the start of the season -same age as Jamie Lyon and Justin hodges and watching Lyon tonight he is a long way from too old and pat will be the same for us

Hodges & Lyon havent been taking it easy in the ESL for 8 years though

He will have just turned 32 in Feb next year.

I understand the age concern, Potter and the club would too. We can only gather that Richards is up for the task, or he is at such a price that it makes the juice worth the squeeze.

Too early to tell what will happen with this signing, but we shouldn't have let him go in 2005\. I still need to have a chat to him as he was my landlord back in 2005 to 2010 and need an explanation to all the rent increases!!!! lol

Now thats disrespectful not only to Pat Richards but Mick Potter as well. Pat Richards has been a class act in SL. The skill factors may not be high as NRL but it is just as physically tough.
Jamie Lyon won't be dissing SL as an easier ride a few years earlier either.
Don't forget the Tigers are constrained financially so Mick will have to juggle with very good young players coming through and getting quality experience which comes at a premium between 25-30yrs, so you have to go for the older proffessional who gives you the quality at a price the Club can afford.

ESL is not as physically tough as the NRL - The disparity between teams is far greater - and far greater constant collisions in the NRL.

A match fit back who's played first grade before, can he start next week?

From the footage I've seen of Richards, he looks to be carving them up in the ESL, but against very soft defence, they just fall off him. He does look to still have a bit of strength and pace about him, so if the price is right, why not? Might get a couple more years out of him.
