OFFICIAL Pathways - KOE General Discussion

I believe Isdale has left the club. was told by Richardson he’s fifth on the depth chart behind Galvin, Luai, Fainu and Large and subsequently pursued other options.
He might be behind those players, but in another 2-3 years when he's ready to challenge for first grade who knows where all of them will be? He should be kept at the club and treated as a prospect, but having 3 highly talented youngsters in his position is a blocker and if he doesn't want to be patient and fight for his opportunity then he can leave. The dogs will probably take his as their 8th choice halfback. This year the dogs had 2-3 top prospects in the halves in every single grade, and it's no coincidence they're near the top of every grade.

A week is a long time in rugby league let alone 12 months. Unless he’s pushed to the bench or back to club football I really don’t see why any young kid should leave.
A few injuries or suspension you can get your chance

I'd be keen to know where our young backrowers sit? Obviously Broederlow has signed onto a T&T leading into Dev '26. I have huge wraps on 17yo Pheonix Godinet who has trained with the NRL boys recently (downside being I think he is managed by Isaac Moses) & also 18yo Archie Duncombe rated highly by the club. 19yo Mitchell Taotua could turn into a beast & surely the club has both he & Maxwell locked up. Any info?
Is Phoenix related to Pita?

But he is an out and out halfback, I wouldn’t include Galvin and Large in that conversation.
What’s wrong with these kids with not wanting to stay and prove themselves?

That is a real shame with Isdale the kid had real potential hope the blokes in charge of retention went out to watch play first grade at group 6??
so we got rid of Conti and Isdale but may keep Sezer and Sullivan that makes a lot of good sound business decision in the short term.

We need to scrap promotion of our juniors and put our best junior’s in their respective age groups. Improve these junior teams and the kids will be happier to stick around and play with each other.
We’ve created a rod for our own back by fast tracking these rookies as it’s currently evidenced only about 50% of debuties are ready for the step up.
So it has a two fold effect.
It gives the impression that young players at WT have a quick and direct pathway to first grade.
It also disenchants other potential players that have been reviewed at an age younger then required regarding their opportunities to progress like the players before them.

Alex is off to the Sharks, along with Sonny Edwards. His dad and his brother are staying on with the Magpies.

Sezer is off to ESL
Sullivan we are trying to move on but require someone else to take him & him to agree.

I find Sharks an interesting choice. He would sit very similar in the pecking order over there. Puru and Pollard are both very highly rated 7's and only very young.

He is only 1 year younger then Galvin and Fainu so it's realistic not to keep another half of the same age or at least not to over invest. Like Panthers have shown when you develop good juniors you lose lots but as long as you keep the right ones you'll be fine.
