Feledy really needs to sort his defence. In attack he's 100% first grade quality. A genuine try scorer. But in defence he isnt even NSW Cup standard. He doesn't seem to be able read the plays at all and when he does make contact he is getting bumped off more often than not. He's frustrating to watch because there is so much potential but its hard to see him realising it unless his defence improves drastically

Fairly average first half

Things I've confirmed - NSW cup is way below nrl standard as Brent Naden always looks a significant class above when playing nsw cup

Josh Feledy only enjoys attack his defence is woeful not just tackling but his decision making.

Toa is better then this grade and will be back in nrl next week.

Miller will be really good but needs time and fitness

Mason is no where near nrl ready and given he is 18 that's OK but he isn't

Alaimalo - nope

Matamua has clearly been told to go back to nsw cup and run the ball and he is but I still think he is best when ball playing

Overall it's like the nrl - too young to win

Low IQ & weak tackling efforts in NSW Cup 1st half. Unbelievable this club!

We made a break in the final 40 secs of half through To'a who knocked on in contact & then Dragons went on to make a break with Feledy penalised in the ruck, easy 2 points.

Piss poor defence on our left side starting with Porter on his edge & then often Naden, Feledy & Alaimalo overlapped. Porter has been abysmal this half.

Positives have been Feledy in attack, strong in contact for his try and set up Alaimalo with a deft grubber. To'a has looked a class above despite his knock-on. Saukuru has been strong with the ball & had an 'almost' half with 2 'almost' intercepts and then putting his foot on the touchline when put away by To'a with minimal space on the right. Matamua has been solid in both A & D and Valevatu tries his heart out. Sullivan has been ok in attack and has made some important tackles.

Just some poor weak, defence especially from Porter, Miller & our left side communication.

Mason should be left at fullback for the rest of the season. Kid just needs reps to build confidence and improve positioning.

Not much else to add tbh.

True, look at it this way.
A good coach can potentially fix poor reads and defensive issues in a week.
If a player has no attacking instinct and no ability to break tackles, make line breaks, create or score tries, then it’s near impossible for a coach to fix it.

Naden has had a few good games in KOE this year, most notably vs Parra early in the season. But a lot of the time he just coasts through the game without looking like a first grade with a point to prove.

Feledy's diminutive size and lack of speed will always make him a target in defence. It's a shame but I can't see him making it as a first grade regular.

Dumbness seems to be contagious ... Heath Mason for stupid leg lifts, Declan Casey stupid pass on the 1st tackle in attack, it just continues on.

I’m incredibly grateful for all of you who post genuine player observations on our lower grades.

I’ll take any hope… even little bits… but I also like to hear game observations

There are very positives to report. Sullivan and To'a are first grade standard. Naden is borderline. Miller, Feledy, Saukuru and Mason are project players but I'm not holding out much hope for any of them. The rest are putrid, Laulilii and Matamua included.

And then Saukuru just gifts Dragons a try Luke Laulilii-like, spills a high kick straight into the arms of a Dragons player who waltzes in.
