Just cant understand Mason at centre. He looked solid in the middle in the trials. Obviously trying to get him reps in a position we lack depth in but it is just a continuation of the butchering of his development.
Yep
Mason should never start a match at centre. Pluging a gap mid game when there's an injury, perhaps . He's a utility, should be in 14, with a running licence at hooker/lock.

Most metres gained, most post contact metres and most tackle breaks.
2 noticeable missed tackles where the player he was defending cut back hard on his inside, but that happens at times to the best of defenders and their team mates should be covering on the inside.
There are no doubt plenty of parts of his game that need improvement, but he is still very young and not too many players his age run the ball as strongly as what he does, particularly when they are asked to play a different position every week,

He has A game in spades. He has no D game, none, he can’t even catch in D? But his A game is so good I don’t wanna let him go yet, surely an NRL system can teach a bloke to tackle and catch a bomb. As BB keeps banging on 14 should be his number every week whatever grade.
How old is he? What is the lowest grade he is eligible for?
And btw I ran on the ground as a kid to get Al to sign my jersey, I hope you’re correct about him.

Heath is still Jersey Flegg eligible, yet he has already been playing NRL and Ressrve Grade for 2 years.

Vale Paul Fletcher

The Balmain Tigers Rugby League Football Club are saddened at the loss of Paul “Fletch” Fletcher who passed away on Sunday.

Fletch was the assistant coach of the Balmain Ryde Eastwood Tigers from 2005-2007 and then became head coach from 2008-2012 in that time the team made the semi finals and appeared in two grand finals.

From 2013 - 2014 Fletch went on to coach the Wests Tigers State Cup team and was an assistant to Tim Sheens, Mick Potter and Jason Taylor.

Our thoughts are with Paul’s Family and friends

Watched the last 25 mins of the first half

6-0 Souths at half time.

Bludger of a game with lots of errors from both sides with the fuzzy haired prop off the bench for us Samuela dropping his first 2 hit ups and NSW cup looking well beyond Will Craig.

On the other hand Tony Sukkar looking fantastic on the right edge and Mav Geyer strong in the middle at lock.

Not many opportunities to attack and brand new halves combo again in Stevanovic and Andrews looking like they need some time together but Andrews does look likely

Is it wet mate?

Honestly it's like they got random players to play on a Sunday, no team effort at all. Sukkar and saukuru were the only 2 decent ones really. No real depth or effort. It seems like no one wants it.... They played a heavily depleted South's also which makes it worse......

Going to be another long year.....

12-20 loss which was Souths mainly capitalising on our errors, some class play from Matt Dufty and some power running from a couple of Souths forwards taking advantage of our fatigue on repeat sets on our own try line.
Tony Sukkar had his career best game, he was immense and if he can keep that up he will be much improved next time he plays NRL for us.
Charlie Murray and Javon Andrews both don’t have their best games, but you can see their quality, both have plenty of high quality games ahead of them.

We didn’t respect the ball in our own half pure & simple. Geyer is not a 13 either.
I thought Geyer was below standard today. He did not run the ball with much intent and looked unsure when trying to ball play.
Luke Jack is a much more effective 13.
A player you and I both like Josese Lanyon had a very average game.
Vala Aho done ok as a big bodied middle in his limited minutes, Lachie Broederlow was ok without being great, I thought Ben Stevanovic was very sharp in the first half, but dropped off a bit in the 2nd half.
Jared Haywood was sharp and confident as always once he come on and Tino Tavana again had a couple of moments of brilliance,
Jack Attard similarly has a couple of moments of brilliance, but he doesn’t seem to be a confident ball player, which means he is a little bit one dimensional with his speed. He could possibly be a better wing or centre long term option.
