Exciting to see Solomone Saukuru get some games at left centre now. He must be getting close to an NRL debut pending further outside back injuries.

With his size, athleticism, decent speed, versatility and another to come through our pathways, Saukuru would be ideal as a minimum contract extension for another couple of seasons to help balance out our cap.
Give the stamp of approval when he gets a run in 1st's B and we get a look at him under pressure of the top grade.

I think we have one of the best forward packs in NSW Cup atm.

If he keeps performing like he has been & we continue to have backrow injury issues, Mitch Taotua could be an NRL smokey before the end of the season. I have big wraps on him and like Josese has not benefited from a full NRL pre-season yet so has huge upside.

Luke Jack back to the middle this week where he is better suited.

Vaka Aho has been doing everything right too as a well-rounded prop with a big tank. Interesting that Peter Taateo has jumped him in the NRL pecking order.

All I can think is that Taateo is better as a momentum changer with his fast leg speed & impact. Aho is better defensively.

I want to see how Taateo performs in defence when we are on the back foot before giving him too much praise. A couple of putrid defensive performances for the Magpies late last season have stuck in my mind especially lateral & behind the ruck.
Exactly right about Taateo. Some will watch his runs and think a like for like replacement for Royce. However his defence at times was very poor even in reserve grade

I like him better in the backrow, his 110kg + and athletic, if he learns to run through holes and is defensively good would be better for him to go to the forward's, Benji doesn't seem very keen on him unfortunately though

I didn’t see last weeks game? While named at 7 was Javon playing a traditional half back role and doing most of the kicking?
Yeah Javon was our game managing half for the 1st time whilst Stevanovic took a back seat. It shows in the NSWRL stats too with Javon having twice the number of receipts & passes as Ben and did the bulk of the long kicking.

I'd say this is a Benji or Heigno directive so Javon is able to play left or right if and when called upon. Before Sunday, he has only played on our left side.

And from memory of Sunday's game, his left to right passing game was pretty effective too as we know his right-to-left is exquisite.

What is it with this kid BWG,
Is he one of those Kids that only runs as fast as he has to (One out one back)
What I mean by that, is he just following the level set for him by the team?

I ask because,
He looks a real specimen - Big kid, decent speed...
Just never seems to stand as tall as he should to me?

Don't know. I think he relies on his athleticism more than his size, maybe the penny is just dropping.

If he learnt to run harder at the line especially on kick returns or 10m out from the tryline, he would be an absolute weapon. As we've seen in recent weeks, when's he's in full flight down the wing, he can steamroll players.

It’s been a very good season for him so far, no injuries (touch wood) which has allowed him to play 80mins every week and he is now starting to look like he has the required fitness level to show his best more consistently.

I worry it's in his head...
Seems to me like he's just having a go now because he's coming to the end of the Creamy contract he was given way back when.

He is worth the Team Benji having a bit of Faith in him, The potential is there and just maybe if trains with the top side over summer we see him in first grade.

Looked okay playing in the trials and on an edge last year too, but seems the coaches decided it's centre or wing for him this season.
