The South Sydney Rabbitohs have terminated the contract of player Paul Carter following a breach of the Club’s Code of Conduct and specific clauses of his NRL contract.

Rabbitohs General Manager of Football, Shane Richardson, said: “the Board has made a decision today to terminate Paul’s contract immediately as a result of his recent conduct.

“We have given Paul all of the support, and every opportunity, to get his career and life back on track but unfortunately he has been unable to meet the standards we had agreed when Paul joined the Club.

“This is a bigger issue than football for Paul. Needless to say we will continue to provide welfare, support and assistance to Paul in his continuing rehabilitation"

This bloke is the sort of player we need, I know this recent incident may turn off other supporters but he's exactly the type of player we need.

Due to his incident his price would lower immensely, and I believe he can turn things around with a group like ours with such a spiritual view and can provide good footy

I'm not sure I'd sign him if he had a clean slate. He's either a small backrower or an average hooker IMO.

His price wasn't that high anyway…he must be up near the top of the stats in errors, penalties, missed tackles and downright boneheaded plays per game. People seem to rate him because he's such a busy player but unfortunately the more involvement he has the more mistakes he tends to make. Definite pass.

Would not take him for free. We are building a very good football side any surplus cash or cap space has to be directed at proven experienced quality player that will bring a quality we are lacking or a out of the box boom youngster. We do not want players who come with baggage and lack discipline on and off the paddock.
