Paul Momirovski

Momo has been great for us: Harry Grant last year, Daine Laurie this year. No doubt he's playing well for Penrith and was pretty solid for us, but Penrith management are smart and they had no reason to release Laurie without getting something in return. No other NRL club would take Joey, Talau is better than Momo, Panthers wouldn't have space for Mbye contract. It worked out well for us that they valued Momo. Our team looks bad this year, but Laurie at fullback gives us something to work around. Momorovski is not a player that would do anything to make our team better.

I see what you’re saying.. useless to us but very useful to both last years grand finalists. Maybe when we get to play finals, which we haven’t for 10 years, someone like Moma maybe useful to us too?

You could also say the last two premiers were happy to let him leave.

Nah, he's wasn't useless to us. I said he was solid for us. I just don't think he's key to Penrith or Melbourne last year, or the Roosters before that. He's a role player. Burton came in to centre on Thursday and already looks more threatening than Momo. When Edwards gets back it might be hard for Momo to make the team, but that's nothing against Momo.

Only mistake in what tigers did is that they seemed to rate Joey above Momo, and based on last years form that seemed a poor assessment. As for trading Momo for either Harry Grant or Daine Laurie...you would do that every day of the week.

It’s for the better, this way Moma gets to have a crack at getting a Clive Churchill medal like Paps did.

I'd rather him having a crack at one with the Tigers 🙂

Sure, but we need to look at the bigger picture. Isn’t more important that we are giving a start to some of the best talent in the nrl? Think of the game?

I am thinking of the game. He is a starting centre with a team that made the GF last year. To me, based on his performances this year, he's better than BJ and probably JTJ (atm).

Mikey, if you look back through the posts you’ll find that I, and a few others were unsuccessful in our attempts to convince the bulk of posters that he was our #1 centre. Alas, he now becomes another Teddy, Paps Addo-Carr etc.
Apart from a couple of our forwards we don’t have anyone who can match his aggressive desire to get over the stripe.

Momers was not our best centre and after his performances this year he would still not be our best centre.

Hi champ, not trying to be a douche, but Momers was taken by the Storm last year and the Panthers this year, the two best sides in the comp. What are they seeing that we are not?
I saw a bloke that can play and can finish, and a goal kicker too boot. What do you see?

And he is gone ...water under the bridge .....Laurie looks damn good

Pray tell who you rate higher. BJ? JTJ? Both can be great on their day but just like the Bunj there's plenty of rocks amongst them diamonds. Neither has done diddly this year. Talau may step up but looks like he's being groomed for lock.

As centres, at least Roberts and Doueihi are better.

Douehi isn't playing as a centre so not sure he counts. Roberts I agree has potential but atm it isn't being shown (not entirely his fault as he hasn't been given much opportunity.) I like having Laurie but losing Momo was not good.

And you put Momers in our side and he would be getting the same opportunity as Roberts and making less of it. People comparing Roberts and Momers form are not comparing oranges. Roberts is daylight ahead of Momers as a centre.

I agree re Roberts if we are talking potential - hands down. Problem is the potential is not evident in reality and hence my basis for my judgement as per my previous post. JTJ may have been a great centre in the past but he is yet to show he still has it - I hope he does as that would benfit the team. I don't agree that Momo would make less of the opportunities that JTJ has had. I would say they would be on a par.
Momorovski has the runs on the board atm. He may not be the most explosive centre in the comp but he is a proven finisher and super reliable.

Disagree completely. Roberts has looked dangerous most times he touches the ball, he actually set up a try last weekend without touching the ball. The problem is because of our flat attacking style and Brooks and Doueihi's preference to play at the line we don't get ball to Roberts in his preferred positions. Roberts likes very early ball with space that allows him to burn defenders on the outside. In saying that Roberts has still been very good for us and I wouldn't swap him for many other centres in the game. He is probably on less than momers anyway.

Don’t know if they were happy or not. What I do know is chooks had better options, which we didn’t have, and Storm had no choice in the matter, because he was under contract to WT.

Because the only reason you would ever swap Roberts for Momers would be to save money in your cap.

Is this same conversation going to happen every week? Really not hard to see why we traded Momers for Laurie and it was a good deal.

He doesnt need early ball ...he needs a half to actually run the ball ...get on the outside of his opposite .....and then commit the next defender

It really isn't that hard ...oh hang on Brooks ...sorry it's impossible ..but Douehi has shown he can get on the outside of a player ...all he needs to do is straighten the attack and you force the outside man in .....and you create a gap for Talau and Roberts
