The 80's were a tough decade for the Magpies

And this is different from the other decades, how?

Not the 50's…We kicked arse.....

BTW...Do you agree with Sirro's team...?

Any bolters ...you must have seen a few...

And Gary ....Bob Linder played 1990-92 for Wests so he's ineligable but Brendan Tuuta Yeah as I said it's tough fitting them all in.....

None of them would make the side today.

Absolute BULLS**T…

Paul Sironen was easily the most destructive ball runner in his prime...
Steve Roach has in spades what some of our forwards lack the most in out&out aggression...
Wayne Pearce was a non-stop tireless worker & one of the fittest blokes to ever play the game...

And then we have the internationals in that team..
The 3 above + Ben Elias, Garry Jack, Tim Brasher... for Australia...
Then there was the 'Wiz' Gary Freeman for the Kiwis...
And Ellery Hanley & Gary Schofield for the Brits...

Totally agree but i think our backline today is better...

Roach was also the most skillful prop I ever saw. He could ball play and destroy teams. Sirro was also as you say a gun.

Both of these players would be amongst the best in their positions if they were playing today. Elias would also be there.

I was surprised that Sirro had Edmed in front of 'Buckets' Hemsley, Kerry was there for nearly all of the 80's while Edmed only came in for the last 3 years or so, remember that Warren Ryan started Buckets ahead of Edmed in the big end of year games in '88 after Blocker was tragically suspended.
I still don't know how we never won a premiership with such an awesome forward pack, perhaps if Warren Ryan had arrived in 1987 instead of the legless Bill Anderson we would have ended up winning by 1989.

Brendan Tuuta?

Is that the grub who played for New Zealand?

No….thats Freeman

Freeman was a champ… I remember the day he ran through a scrum as it was breaking to score a try for NZ. Talk about gettn caught with your pants down...

There was a guy called Tutua who smashed King Wally and Bob Linder in the same Test. Used his elbow a couple of times and had the tendency to jump up in tackles to take off peoples heads...

Yes that was Tuuta….Great player...new his targets...

You gotta wonder how much damage he did to Wally's brain that day......
