We got rid of an expensive out of form half without him hanging around taking up cap space for the remainder of his contract. On last seasons form, no other club would have taken Benji for what we were paying, so we would have been subsidising his contract elsewhere. I think the Tigers are already well out of it having released him.
If the Tigers think they can squeeze additional money out of an option they may still have on Benji, then that's potentially awesome, **but I would be concerned it could come back and bite them if the NRL then rules Marshall's contract still valid. We could be stuck with overs on our cap while he plays elsewhere, or worse forced to take him back.**
I'm just going to assume for the moment that the Tigers board knows what they're doing. It would be nice if we could say force the Storm to pay out Tim Sheens in exchange for Benji. That would solve two problems.
