Penrith

I don't know how Bryce Cartwright gets talked up for Origin …he is a terrible defender..between him and Martin they were targeted which led directly to points...

I'll be getting my Simonabet on Rowdy to bag a triple...

I like Penrith so I hope this doesn't end up like the Tigers of 2012…

I'd been saying to a few people that Penrith had reminded me of the tigers in 2012\. Going by the dragons game it was much like our dogs or knights rd 1 game that year.

Wont be good for us. Look at last yr i think only 2 teams won 2 in a row and most years are the same teams who win week 1 lose wk 2 and visa versa. Hopefully we can buck the trend but given the squad they have they sill bounce back id say

That's very true. In the modern NRL ther are so many inconsistent teams. It's generally worse this time of year too. JT said after the game (on 9) that we looked good early in 2015/16 and it didn't really count for much. We need to find motivation and attitude every week. These players need some finals experience to harden theme up and work towards a premiership.

I had a multi with Cronulla, WTs and Penrith… Whoda thunk?
Only saw the first half of this game... Dragons took it right to them

I had a multi with Broncos 1-12 Melbourne 1-12 Dragons and Tigers

I'd rather play them coming off a 30 point loss in round 1 as opposed to a 30 point win. A 30 point win and they would be looking very ominous for this season. A 30 point loss, who knows how they will rebound. We can assume they will come out all guns blazing, but that performance could be a reflection of where they are at atm. Maybe the pressure is too much for them, maybe Griffin stinks. Or maybe it was just a false start and they come out next week and play like premiership favourites. Maybe. Either way i'm feeling a little more confident knowing if Saints can that, why can't we?

I agree,Souths were terrible,we have the same problem as last year, not numbering up in defence particulary on the RHS,Souths often had 5 on 2 and still couldn't score,if we play the same next week Penrith will have a field day.
Anyway, early days i hope we can get a few wins up early in the season to give everyone some self belief and confidence.

Souffs couldn't get through our middle. I loved that. They had to go around us and it's obvious which side they chose as most all teams will this season. Our scramble worked well, our energy was good and our attack was great. I don't think Penrith have a better forward pack but their backs can be lethal. More of the same and focus out wide defensively should see us take it. Maybe the panthers are gonna have an unexpected shocker of a start to the year. We've got a tough few rounds early. This is a great opportunity to kick on.

He's terrible defending in the 6 position , he is far better when he can't get targeted in such a vulnerable position

Tedesco tore Cartwright to pieces the first time we played them last year.

He even admitted as much after we played them the 2nd time round

When asked what was the difference between the two games he had a one word answer "Tedesco "

We have a big matchup problem with Peachey v Kev. They will exploit us on the right edge. JT needs to devise a game plan to cover Kev.

Cartwright is ordinary, the amount of mistakes he makes, turns over possession trying to push offloads, poor ball security, lazy defender.

I watched him closely last season and he puts Penrith under so much pressure and also lets the pressure off with his mistakes. Lost count of the amount of times I said out loud "that was Cartwright again" while watching Penrith games.

Did you watch the Dragons game …Cartwright was defending inside Martin... Thompson ran 3 TRIES straight thu them,,Widdop 1,,the Dragons targeted them and it paid dividends for them...

The team needs to remember that game against Penrith toward the end of last season - was winnable, and could've all but got us into the top 8 but we totally blew it. Don't want that to happen again.
