Pies : Where do you buy your favourite and what is it

Hate to say it but Garlo's is a pretty good pie!

Best I have ever had was one called "Betabake" made out padstow way I think

Actually the Garlo's pies are really very nice. Found them in Coles in the fridge (not freezer) section, I really like the Lamb & Rosemary and Chunky Steak ones. Other than that, the Toowoon Bay Bakery make some really good ones as well.

This is the best thread of all time.

Yatala Pies are awesome. Chicken & Mushroom pie from Jimmy Dan in Moorooka is good. The Vietnamese bakery next to Fortitude Valley Train Station are gun as well.

Got to say the best I've had is from "Heatherbrae Pies" at Heatherbrae which is just on the northern side of Raymond Terrace.

Nice eat in area or you can take away. You can buy frozen family size or individual to take away as well.

My favourite is Steak and Kidney but there are heaps of others you can try.

If you are driving through that area and its time to "tie the bag on" - do yourself a favour.

Houston we have our first problem

Geo has said a big no to Heatherbrae Bakery

Who do we trust ??

I'm leaning towards trusting Russell

Geo like pies , sounds like he is sending us on goose chase  doesn't want us to visit his favourite bakery

1 - Nimmitabel
2 - Crookwell
3 - There's a place in Cooma opposite the park that deserves a special mention for its sausage rolls

Big fan of Villi's pies.
No where in Newcastle sells 'em as far as I know.

When I was coming back from a family event @ Grafton earlier this year, we stopped at some servo that had a Villi's Pie store inside. Amazing.

Heatherbrae Pies are vomit inducing.
Headed out there to visit Masters as there is none more local and grabbed a pie, wouldn't go back.

As for Newcastle,
Great bakery across from Hunter Stadium, not sure of the name but been there a bunch of times and their pies are great. Good customer service there too.

Good Tucker Bakery @ Macquarie Hills / Cardiff is a good one too.
It's my local so I go there a bit. Bunch of nice girls work there.

So if you're from Newcastle or visiting and want a pie, I think they're the go.
Been to a lot of bakeries and there defo stand outs.

Before I forget - honourable mention to REDHEAD BEACH PIE SHOP at the local shops over there, good pie after a swim.

Demps have you tried Barry's at Blacksmiths shops? Down from Home Hardware. Sensational.

Also good pies at the small bakery at Merewether (not sure of the name though).

I now work near the stadium so will try that bakery you mentioned for lunch!!

Crofts at Aberdeen in the Hunter Valley used to be the best there was anywhere but they have slipped since the old man retired and his son took over a few years ago. I can't go past a smokey chicken and bacon pie from Bakers cottage, there's a new one opened up in singleton a block from my place so I expect to put on a few kilos.

Yeah, I use to live @ Blacksmiths.
Beltana Street.

Use to go to that pie shop a bit, they're pretty good I must say.
Like the pizza shop, Big Mama's there too lol.

But the ones I mentioned are my picks I think.

What's everyone's favourite flavour pie?
I'm a big curry (beef) pie fan.
Prefer no veggies in em but if the pie is good I let it slide.

Also, any one tried the "KFC Pie" ?
I had one the other night, the zinger one.

Wasn't a fan.
Through up later that night.
Not sure if it was because of the pie though but possible.
Avoid.

I'm not a fan either. They're not terrible. There're just heaps better out there.

I can't imagine them being any good at all
If you want a pie why would you go to KFC?
