Pies : Where do you buy your favourite and what is it

Fredo's pies are the overall best I reckon. Plenty of varietals, all good.

Was recently on hols at Tea Gardens and the local bakery had an incredible "oyster kilpatrick" pie. Amazing, but not for the traditional steak lovers.

For those in the Gold Coast region who like Yatala Pies, you should try Quinney's a bit further south at Burleigh. Biggest, tenderest chunks of meat I've ever tried.

Fredo"s have been hit pretty hard by the Kempsey bypass - but if you take time to turn off to Frederickton the time you lose by getting off the bypass is worth it and there are no queues anymore so you pick up the time you lost anyway.

I'm a curry beef pie fan too or any spicy beef pie. One pie I haven't had too often but really like was Harry's Tiger pie ( chunky beef, mashed potato, mushy peas and gravy ) from Harrys Café De Wheels.

Not sure if it has been mentioned but "Red Ned's " in Nelson Bay is great - wide range of exotics and just plain ol' beef, steak and mushroom…..

Curry pie, nice ones from the bread shop in Cox's Rd, North Ryde.

Darby's pies in the Hunter region have great value for money.

My favourites are Curry, Pepper Steak,, also like the Mexican.
The cheese and bacon sausage rolls are nice as well.

For me the spicier pie the better.

What's everyone's favourite flavour pie?
I'm a big curry (beef) pie fan.
Prefer no veggies in em but if the pie is good I let it slide.

Also, any one tried the "KFC Pie" ?
I had one the other night, the zinger one.

Wasn't a fan.
Through up later that night.
Not sure if it was because of the pie though but possible.
Avoid.

Went to KFC the other night , saw a picture of the zinger pie on the wall but didn't want to chance it !!

If anyone finds themselves heading south on the hwy over the break, specifically the Milton-Ulladulla area.

There are a couple of specialty pie shops on the Hwy (one in Milton, one in Ulladulla) but I rate neither.

If you're a pie lover its well worth your while to go to Vince Bakery just past the lights on the eastern side, tucked in behind the Super IGA. Plenty of parking, very good pies with quality steak cuts (no fat) and excellent pastry! My favourites are the chillie, the pepper, and steak and pea. If you're not into pies they also make a Vietnamese roll (pork and salad) that brings customers from all over. Both I highly recommend.

Also, I really love sauce with my pies, although in the last year or so I've taken to topping mine with a friend's home made spicy tomato relish. I can really recommend giving that a go!

The sauce bottle is growing mould I reckon, and that's saying something!

You can't beat a great meat pie. I was down in Berrima last weekend and went into a bakery, Guy behind the counter said they had just been reviewed by 2UE. Was a little disappointed.

There's also a bakery in Umina that claims to sell the worlds hottest meat pie. You have to sign a waver to eat it.

That would be Bremens. I've had the Flaming Ron twice and it was pretty tough going. Aside from that they have a fantastic range of other pies. The butter chicken is pretty damn good. They always seem to be winning a stack of awards.

Gotta say I do like Hayden's at Ulladulla. They do a quality beef curry.

Hmmmm…seems by the responses in this thread I'm not the only one who likes PIES....

Best pies ever come from Tigermama's kitchen. Family loves them. On the menu, once a week

What night is that, TM? I'll be over after Christmas
