Player Dramas in the NRL

These blokes are predators. End of story.

But.... they don't seem to have broken any laws.

Meanwhile blokes who have broken laws and committed crimes are still in our game.

The NRL does not have the guts to stand up to the clubs and coaches that want to allow these grubs to continue playing.

Until they grow a pair, expect to see these things continue.

Gee these morons have done a good job of messing up a really positive way for the game to grow into the future and contribute to the community. There are going to be parents that will lobby against schools allowing visits from NRL players in the future out of fear that they won't be able to keep it in their pants.

These are not acts of stupidity. These players made decisions to have sex with 17 year old school girls. This smacks of entitlement because as NRL players they are treated differently and in many cases looked up to by the community including impressionable girls. It is for this reason their behaviour needed to be beyond reproach. Instead we have them trawling for sex from perhaps naive country girls. Just a coincidence these things arise consistently at a few clubs? I believe these two should go for a year and the NRL undertake a review of the culture at the Bulldogs. I ask were these players suitable repß to interact with school girls? Who decided they were?

I hate to say this Paws, although young girls are impressionable,this day and age with social media and the accessability to it of all ages,I dare say at 17 yrs of age they knew exactly what they were doing and who they were doing it with..Iam definitetly not supporting the guys one iota....but please don't cast all the blame to the guys...at 17 they could have easily said NO...but chose the other avenue,and may I say at their own risk...

Leagues players are the dumbest athelets in the country. No doubt. While all sports have their morons, most rugby league players are as thick as a plank of wood.

The clubs and NRL have extensive education campaigns but in the end that's just ticking a box saying they're doing the right thing. If someone only has 2 brain cells and one of those cells purely drives blood to your little head then there's really not much you can do.

I like Madge's approach of only signing players that he finds of decent moral grounding. That greatly reduces the risk of exposing his club to such dramas.

Okunbor could get terminated for 2 years. Rumours circulating that the girl was 15-16, and he also hooked up with a teacher he met on a separate visit. It eh former rumour is true (seems unlikely though) then he could face criminal charges and be on a sex offenders list.

CHN apparently just met a girl while out and about, who ended up being 17. Far less damaging, but still inappropriate and should be suspended for 6 months maybe. Other than ask to see her licence it would be hard for him to know, especially if she lied about her age as teens often seem to do. I'm sure other players have done the same accidentally and gotten away with it.

These two players had a duty of care to shut down the communication with the girls. The classification of these two as idiots minimises the behaviour which I regard as bordering on predatory. I do not believe the school girls are accountable at all. We've all been in situations where you may be propositioned by a woman but have shut it down because you are married, in a monogamous relationship or having a position of power over the lady in a workplaces makes it inappropriate.
