This confirms what everyone was saying about Mitch "Grub and low life".

Newcastle Knights star Mitchell Pearce's wedding has been cancelled after he allegedly sent racy text messages to a young female club employee.
Pearce was due to be married on Tuesday to partner Kristin Scott in Byron Bay, but a report in the Daily Telegraph, which has been confirmed by The Sydney Morning Herald, revealed the wedding has now been called off.

I spoke to a member of his family just last week who mentioned the wedding was being postponed because of the Covid bubble. K. Foran is his best man and couldn't make it to Byron Bay from the northern beaches, several others couldn't enter from Qld. The texting story is a beat up and the Telegraph have again shown just what a rag they are.

Would seem Danny Buderus doesn't yhink it is a beatup.

Pearce scandal ‘unacceptable’: Buderus: https://www.news.com.au/sport/nrl/newcastle-knights-rally-around-embattled-star-mitchell-pearce-in-wake-of-texting-scandal/news-story/d053b2f06c2dba409c077b3f5613ad0a

Hbom, upon further investigation I may have been a bit wide of the mark but one thing I do know now is that there are several other very nervous players at the Knights...

Involved or similar???

I certainly highly suspect that the fix is in a lot of the time. I don’t think every play in the game is scripted beforehand, but I feel there’s definitely a result the referee has in mind before the game starts, and they do what they can to make that happen. It doesn’t go their way 100% of the time, but I suspect it’s most of the time.
Edit: So yeah Steve, scripted is probably the wrong word, probably a bit over the top.
The blatant subjectivity in refereeing, the judiciary, dealing with salary cap cheating, favourable gifts, it’s just gotten more and more blatant over the years, so much so that they barely try to hide it anymore.

What baloney.

I'm curious to understand what specific benefit NRL gains from Melbourne Storm winning another premiership. If anything, a Tigers win is as beneficial to NRL as anything, as it re-awakens a powerhouse supporter group that hasn't experienced success since 2011.

I'm also curious to understand how Broncos getting wooden spoon benefits NRL, considering many folks think they have a "rails run" with game scheduling.

Does it help NRL for Roosters to win back-to-back premierships, or are they just paid-off by Uncle Nick?

Conspiracies up the wazoo and not a shred of evidence, how Trumpian.

I’m with you here.

Tigers have a huge but dormat supporter base. I’m pretty sure the 2005 grand final is still one of the most watched finals in history. Also we hold something like 3 of the top 10 crowds in the NRL era that don’t include grand finals

If it was scripted I don’t think they would starve us of a successful footy team for 9 years..

Sorry to highlight this mate but is Mitch still running with the "it's postponed because of COVID dammit" charade?

The NRL wouldn't think it's important that they have a very successful team in the heartland of its greatest competitor footy-code wise? How much interest do you think would be in the Melbourne Storm in Victoria if they have a few seasons scraping the bottom of the ladder? Pretty much zero.
Why do you think the AFL have thrown ridiculous money hand-over-fist at the Sydney Swans and GWS Giants. To get as much of a foothold in rival territory as possible obviously.
You always hear people in NSW bemoan the fact that a huge volume of grounds are having rugby uprights replaced with AFL goalposts. It must be hugely noticeable.
To say that the NRL wouldn't have a massive interest in having a successful team from Victoria is pretty astonishing TBH.

Mitch resigns as Knights captain, he keeps his contact, the girl he texted now no longer employed by the Knights, seems like she gets punished more than Mitch.

If she had stayed at the Knights how uncomfortable would it have been for her at least by leaving things should settle a lot quicker for her.

And Mitchell Pearce wouldn't be allowed to polish the Kings boots

Apologies for not responding earlier, I only just saw this post.

Trumpian? Wow, I have never been called that before. Cynical I get more often, and I probably would have agreed with you if you had said that.

From what I understand, the majority owner of Melbourne Storm is Matt Tripp, a man who has made 100s of millions of dollars through online gambling companies. The NRL is a business, not a sport, this has been very clearly demonstrated since the Super League war, and like any big business it's about making money for the big business stakeholders. I would love to live in a world where big business didn't run things for their own benefit, but that's invariably what they do. Unfortunately, there is no way in this society that big business wouldn't be trying to solely make money for themselves and be influenced by people with high standing.

You want evidence? Come on, really? So do I. It's not easy to come by mate, if it was, they wouldn't be as successful as there are, would they?

I don't know how a person could have followed the sport over the last few years/decades and not seen the obvious blatant advantage the Broncos have gotten through primarily playing on most Friday nights. News Limited owns the Broncos, and are a major player in the television/streaming rights of the NRL, you don't think that's a massive conflict of interest? Blind Freddy could see that one, though he's smart enough to shut his mouth after already stepping in it and Lee having a word or two publicly with him.

You believe what you want, but I hardly think it's a 'conspiracy' to question the integrity of the NRL. Why do you think they created an 'Integrity Unit' in the first place? Because they sensed that too many people were starting to question their dubious practices and thought they needed to bolster their image.

Testimonial dinner or game or both anyone? How about a diamond ring for the missus? Nothing to see here.

They seem to have limited interest in Victoria now despite Storm making a whole bunch of grand finals.

Just how many conspiracy-assisted premierships do the Storm need before rugby league kicks off in Victoria?

Evidence isn't easy to come by, hey? Shame that.

Josh Addo-Carr stuck in Sydney due to covid restrictions, but actually due to either his own stupidity or laziness.

I think we dodged a massive bullet. Seems like he hangs out with bad people, and is not the sharpest tool in the shed. He'll be up against the odds to see out his contract for the Bulldogs. I'm picking he won't make it to his third year.

I just seen a few articles floating around about former qld winger Brett Dallas (sorry, I'm not tech savvy enough to post article).

What a fall from grace. Drugs, multiple stealing offences, broke and on disability pension. Is estranged from his eldest kids.

Has been in jail since June / July.

Talk about a massive fall from grace.
