Player Dramas in the NRL

I hope people don't start accusing the alleged victim in all this. The Law may have said otherwise, but she may have felt there was an assault.

Also, a job of a RL player is to promote the game in different sections as well. I wonder how parents will feel when JDB makes an appearance in their kids' school, his face goes up in NRL promotions and Ch9 televises a Dragons game on FTA during Women's Round.

Do we get to know how many of the 12 jurors found him guilty/non-guilty? Hung jury is 10/12 found him guilty, is that right? Hard to believe I did legal studies in Year 10 :flushed:

Its 12/12 that need to agree. Judge can give a direction to have 11/12 agree which he did but still no agreement.

If they proceeded again, it would be the prosecution running the same case over and over again until they draw a group of jurors who agree with them...no justice in that whatsoever IMO

So how many voted guilty in this instance?

Don't worry about it, bloke got off.

It’s a hard situation to judge who’s ever side you are on. You will always have doubts in your mind Knowing nothing was proven or disproven.I am partial to the innocent until proven guilty but have no doubt jdb is a tosser that cheated on his misses for this I don’t like him.
One can only hope that the innocent who we don’t actually who is except his partner are able to move on with out detrimental effects

being “innocent” and “not guilty” are not the same thing.

Aren't they?

Legally, I agree with you. Innocent and not guilty is the same.

However, morally, some people on here are saying not guilty means they just couldn’t pin something on him - as opposed to he didn’t do it.

for an international branded club,as many did, offer him a retainer as he sat in the dock on said chrges, makes me scratch my head over

No one will ever know except the jurors, it has to stay between them. They’re not allowed to tell the Court or anyone.

This is a "quote" from Zac Lomax, as pubished in the SMH online 1/6/21, in reference to the selection of Jack de Belin in the St George Illawarra NRL team for the upcoming ropund:

“The fans will be behind Jack 100 per cent as we all are at the club,” Lomax said. “He’s one of my best mates, to see what his family and himself have gone through, it’s been unbelievable how he’s handled himself through this whole situation.

"..to see what his family and himself have gone through..".

Really? Seriously?

What about the alleged victim? What about Callan Sinclair?

The "fans" and "club" are 100% behind De Belin implies that the alleged victim is a liar, that the offences didn't happen.

Well, there were significant proportions of two juries who believed that some, or all, of the 5 out of 6 charges, did happen!!

What is worth "celebrating" in De Belin's return to NRL?

If he was my mate I would be supporting him as well, nothing was proven outside of him cheating on his partner.

Maybe best for Jack if he can put it behind him, use it as a wake-up call, and change his behaviour in the future.

Whether he was innocent or not, if he wants to have a football career, he needs to not put himself in those situations.

He could best be supported by his mates saying nothing at all! And, if cheating on the partner is the standard you want to defend, that's fine too.

How am I defending it? Would I support a mate that cheated on their partner, yes and I have done in the past. I had a mate move in with me after he and is partner broke up over that very issue. Cheating is a terrible thing to do to someone but there are many things that can lead to that point.

Evidence given by Michael Jennings is rather damning re party drugs on Mad Mondays over 4 consecutive years - 3 @ the Roosters and another @ Parra,

Bottom line is the justice system had two chances to nail him and both times came up empty. What people think means nothing, in the eyes of the law he is not guilty. Don’t like the guy and having a affair while your partner is weeks away from having a kid is a low act....but not against the law

Nasty accusations in his civil case against his ex wife. She has told court of his drug use over time, while he was limiting it to the Mad Mondays, contrary to what his ex wife had said. And there's lots being said about lots of strife.
