Players released

IMO Taupau was a big loss and so was Blair.
Would've liked to have had Farah come on last week when Woods went off….we looked lost.
JAC and Simona mistaminas aside are huge losses because as someone else said we have virtually no 3/4 depth.
And Up to this point at least Austin is a better player than Moses and he in our side last year probably would've meant a semi spot.

My thoughts:

Seve - no loss
Funaki - No loss
JAC - would have been handy but I wouldnt have paid overs for him
Austin - no loss if staying meant we lost Moses. Its worth noting most Canberra fans are iffy about Austin
TMM - as with Austin, we couldn't keep him and Moses. Im satisfied we kept the right one.
Siro - too early to tell. Even if he succeeds at Manly, I suspect he needed the change of environment
Nathan Brown - a loss, particularly as we kept Lovett over him.
Tapau - as with us he is destructive at his best but goes missing a lot at times.
Farah - too early but Im comfortable with the players we have so "no loss"

Austin seems to be a goer.
Tapau I would have preferred to keep over almost all of current players IF he could be controlled not to throw penalties away.
One of my footie mates told me today that the last on the list got man of match last round but I ám only quoting am not sure. We are still missing a bit in the captaincy dept re ref's decisions.

Don't agree at all that Austin is a better player than Moses. Austin scores about 10 good solo tries a year, but his defense is shoddy at best. People remember his tries but forget he creates very few opportunities for his outside men which is his primary job. His kicking and organizing games are non-existant. He also looks like he's peaked - he hasn't improved any of his deficiencies in 3 years.

He's certainly not a bad player by any means, but he's very one dimensional.

Sharks certainly targeted Blake to good effect last week, lots of tries scored down that inner LHS corridor through Wade Graham and Maloney. You could see Maloney just waiting for Austin to commit then putting a runner through.

I think Blake Austin is a good footballer, I think he's moved on from Panthers and Tigers because he has a very specific skill set and you need to fit him into the right team. It works alright for Raiders, they are a big side that open up space for him to run.

Major problem for Raiders is when teams stick with them for 80, when it gets tight at the end of matches and the big forwards tire, neither Sezer nor Austin are really clutch footballers.

As has been often said, I think Blake Austin is a great #14, probably one of the best going around, but he doesn't want to play #14\. Craig Wing left for rugby for exactly the same reason.

Have you seen Moses' defence? Austin is way better. Wish we'd kept him and got rid of Broses. Austin doesn't strike me as someone who would be trying to hold us to ransom for more $ either.
