Players want Payten as coach, want Potter gone

There's being a good talker.
Then there's winning 2 Dally Ms.

A chunk of leadership (coaching) is talking.

None of leadership is winning Dally Ms

Sure, I guess it's not black and white. My point was more that Dally Ms or the like represent a level of excellence this club needs; a mindset of winning and being the best, which doesn't necessarily make for a great coach at all, but sure can't hurt, especially if he can convey that mindset to the troops, well versed or otherwise.

We're forming a belief on a tweet by a guy who said Tedesco was
A)Going to Roosters
B) going to Bulldogs
C) staying
D) actually signed with Canberra
No cred for Mole, but guarantee he scours this forum.

for us to have any hope in the next 3 years it will all hinge on the youngsters reaching their full potential.

while it was only u/20,payten did manage to have success with youth.
developing youth may be a strength of his which would be worth serious consideration.

i don't agree with us needing to make the 8 for potter to survive.
we make the 8 we have over achieved big time.
in my eyes we are like an expansion team, with some current stars, has beens, fringe players and kids in key positions.

seems like alot were drinking the kool aid in april and thinking it could be sustained.

alot of coaches get the opportunity to spend on the open market, but it seems the club wants to use juniors only, which to me is very risky.
paying for future potential means you are paying overs while waiting for them to develop physically and mentally.

coming out of last year i was excited to see how simona, noffa, sirro, sue, teddy would develop.been a step back for all so far this year because of injury.that's alot of players to have stall in your top 17 straight off the bat.

i don't want to hear another word by anyone at the club until a decision is made and ready to be announced.
unfortunately that won't happen.
probably an article by farah coming in 3,2,1.

You say Potter has lost the sheds.
I say you lost the plot. The problem lies with the players, the bottom line is that their there to play football. If they as a group thought the game plan is rubbish, go out and play a different style. If what your saying is true, our players must go away from the, it's the coaches fault mentality. There might be some truth in it, but only because Potter has said it the way it is. Aim up you clowns.
The reason I believe it's not Potter technique that failed the team is due to the culture we have within our club. It all started with with the same old line from Benji, I'm yet to peak, but I can fell its coming. Never did. Benji was so intent on getting it his way in last years contract debacle, that he cut his own throat to play for peanuts elsewhere. Another time Farah got upset with M Johns for calling the team weak, was Johns wrong, and from that time Johns is still right, but Robbie couldn't handle the truth, he had a dummy spit. Then the Ennis feud. The player can't be told anything, they'll cry.
Do you remember after the Souths and Manly games, Robbie was on a high claiming that the boys will no longer be intimidated by stronger packs, nice of him to beat his chest. Was Potter no good then.
To me it's all to familiar with when I get home from the pub and I've blown a couple hundred on the pokies. The next day when the missus finds out, I tell her it's not my fault, I was drunk, do you think she believes me.

Well said "Russell" take a chill pill everyone! And be patient. We will know what the club decides to do with potter soon enough. Lets focus on the team having a good game against the Bulldogs on Sunday instead.

where was all this when we were winning?

surely if things were this bad, it would have been noticeable throughout the whole year right?

As far as I am concerned Potter has done the job that he was brought in to do. He has cleaned out most of the dead wood. Blooded some young guns and brought a new culture to the club and some structure to our game. That's the most you will get out of Potter. He WILL NOT WIN A PREMERSHIP. Potter is very one dimensional. Most of our plays are easily read and the team now feels that he doesn't have the coaching ability to take them any further. Once a coach looses the sheds its over he may as well walk now.

I think Payton will be a success. He coached all these kids that Potts blooded to an NYC premership. The hallmark of his maiden NYC premership was the attacking fair and ability. Our current NRL squad has no attack at all. Our NRL side is full of Gen Y they need a coach that will connect with them and get the best out of them. Look at the Roosters, souths (madge), Panthers (cleary) and Warriors to name a few. its Payten's time.

Grant Mayer is doing a great job. he knows the formula to success he was a great administrator at Manly. Everyone bagging this guy is total nonsense, he is cleaning up humpty and Noice mess. Those two blokes have completely stuffed the cap and the club. Mayer is turning things around. HE HAS A PLAN. I think he will may this club strong but he will have to make some tuff calls along the way. First call is to let Potter go…

Looks like the only answer is to make Robbie captain and coach asap.

Now if all this is true how can i have faith that the players will put in 100% for the rest of the year?

Look at the warrior's seeing off Elliot. That was not pretty.

I like Payton but senior players agitating for him in the press is an absolute joke.

If anyone has a betfair account im happy to lay the Tigers at 90/1 premiers right now, just pm me and i will set you.

Another season down the drain imo… another jihad mission from within. As a die hard Tigers fan I still hope to be proven wrong

The smiling assassin will do what has to be done with regards to Potter.

If…i might say that again for T-Rexx...IF.....you got that qualifier T-Rexx??.....FFS......IF the posts on here about player-led discontent with Potter is true, then the next few weeks will probably (another qualifier T-Rexx, it's not a fact) be ugly. Why would they "perform" when there is an ulterior motive to make the coach look bad and have him replaced with someone they prefer? And, no, I DON"T BELIEVE (got those words T-Rexx? or if they're too difficult to remember, just use IMO) they will "perform" for the sake of their diehard fans. There's ego and self-interest involved, so, forget putting in for the fans.

This is the NRL - Not Reggies. What does Payten know about that?
As TigerWoods says our attack is abysmal. That is ok - our attack coach (Payten) obviously blames Potter.

What sort of attack are we going to make better without the strike players we had i.e. Tedesco, Simona and Nofo? With Brooks still learning; our big hope five eight Moses playing full back (and under size) and Austin playing his own game ( and being moderately successful).

It is almost impossible to make breaks without strike players - but Payten can do what Potter can't. Yeah right! Maybe in 4-5 years time but not now. If he thinks he can; he is kidding himself.

If we want to win the premiership in 2016 - the club must stick with Potter. Mayer should be supporting his coach, what a dreadful way to go to work everyday not knowing if you will be there tomorrow. Potter is a good man and time they showed some loyalty to him.
