Players want Payten as coach, want Potter gone

It is one thing to know how to make the horse drink the water… It is another to be able to make the horse drink the water ..my thoughts on Payten.

This whole thing on defence coach and attack coach is rubbish. The buck stop with the head coach. Potter has lost the dressing room. its over….. Payto will be great... As head coach you learn quickly, mates or not with the players its your job on the line.

Last year was a write off for him. Wasn't his team and too much rubbish from past years. This year we are seeing more his style. What troubles me is the total lack of attacking skill. He has spoken about "earning the right to do the fancy stuff". Methinks that is not working. Players look lost in attack and tries mostly come from a kick, a barge over, or a movement close to the line. They seem to crowd each other and movement out wide is slow. Given the position on the ladder and the atrocious for and against it may be time to stop "earning the right" and have a damn go. Might be the only thing that can save Potter's job.

rightly or wrongly its a lot easier to flick a coach than flick half your players. So I would imagine that will be the path our club will take. You can not win matches if your playing group are at odds with the coach. Now it would be nice to weed out the players who are heading this so called mutiny but the club has shown in the past they would rather target the coach than the players. So in a nutshell its all over red rover for Potts, and really if that what it takes to get a winning football team so be it

Last I looked this was a football club, not a boy's club.

Going down the boy's club track is a one-way ride into oblivion and the club should stand up against it. And those behind it should be careful what they wish for.

I like Todd as a coach and have always thought he would make a fine NRL coach too, but I still think he is too green.

Another year for Potter makes sense to me. Sacking him now reeks of impatience and petulance.

Often taking out the leader of the dissenting group will do the job. If that player also happens to be the captain, then so be it. Love him as a player, but if he is the last of the entrenched cancer amongst the playing group (not forgetting assistant coach), then by all means, cut it out

you cut Farrah you condem the tigers to the spoon for years. You have seen what happens when he is on SOO duty, we fall apart. As far as Im concerned is is a fantastic captain. One of the Best in the NRL. We have a squad that can win an NRL title within three years with Farrah as captain. I think Potter has lost the dressing room, he is gone. GREEN MILE. We will improve next year under Payton. ITS PAYTONS TIME….

How on hell could the club make Payten the coach he has only coached under 20s and not even a senior team of any sought, if not already the Tigers would be the joke of the league…If I was the CEO the cancer would of been gone this week no mater what the persons status was!! I thought the club had a no DH policy.

everyone thought the same thing about Toovey when he took over Manly, No experience bla bla. Guess what he will win the comp this year.

he's got a gun side there, toovey goes to another club and he'll struggle to get same results.

Amusingly, the un-named player whinged because it seems Potter has put in place a more internationally accepted coaching structure… assuming the position of Manager as it would be called in Europe and America, and having the "Coaches" run the respective drills and training.

If I had the reigns, I would set an audit of the players group in motion. I have a gut feeling that being as close to the players as he most likely is, Payten is possibly adding fuel to the fire answering the players with honesty as a friend rather than as a coach, the lines blurred, and well we have this story surface. Audit the group as if Potter is on the line, see if the playing group outs Payten for dissent, then bullet him if proven correct.

For some reason we blur the lines between coach and player, the balance skewed, personal player failures lumped onto the coach instead of a culture of taking responsibility and onus upon themselves. The players backing Payten to me says they are looking for a softer touch, someone they can lead more easily...

What I fail to understand is why Brian Smith of all people was called in as the consultant, a person with more than one axe to grind and totally with no idea of how the modern game should be played.
I've read bits and pieces from the report that says Potter has lost the players support and it's the assistant coaches that are doing the day to day stuff, well they aren't doing any better than Potts yet they should be promoted!, yes the lunatics have taken over the asylum!.

Believe me it ain't Paytens turn.

Next thing you know you'll want a 5-y-o to drive in Formula 1.

If Payten is the cause of this - get rid of HIM! The renegade players will fall into line.

The idea is the club runs the team, not the players - most signed with Potter as coach and that is the way it should stay. If they don't like it go to the Tiger Sharks. They've taken all our other dead wood.

Dean Ritchie saying the players want Payten, ''they like him, they believe he draws up the game plans"

Game plans???
