Players who never reached their potential

Did Farah and Marshall go as far as they could? Around 2009/2010 I was expecting them to go to the level of Fittler, Lockyer etc but I don't think they quite got there.

I think Marshall reached his potential, but didn’t stay there nearly as long as he could have… he became complacent around 2013 I reckon.

Farah reached his potential too but was held back from rep selections during his best years, because of the useless NSW selectors wanting a “tough” hooker like Ennis. Farah was always miles better than him. Farah’s career also got derailed with the Potter and Taylor circuses

Potter's circus …..... I can understand people's anger at Taylor but Potter , thought he did a good job brought in Bodene Thompson , Taupau and Austin all quality budget signings

I was referring to the Gordan Tallis “Potter-can’t-coach” saga.

Na they’re not up there with that caliber of player IMO - they are in the tier below for mine. If it weren’t for the issues above I think they could’ve got there

Don't you mean the Farah "my coach is garbage" saga

Blame Tallis all you like , Robbie says nothing and we have no issue …........

Anyway no need to bring up ancient history , can't be changed and the future is hopefully bright enough to wear shades at some stage

It was more the holes in da fence that cost us 2015..looking good until that Dragons game..

For me, it's Owen Craigie. A totally insane talent with all the skills who was killing it in first grade at age 17.

He could score the winning try, kick the winning goal or create something out of nothing. A real pleasure to watch on his day.

Sadly, off field pressures and injuries limited what he achieved.

Still remember the night we came from 24-0 down against Newcastle at Ctown. Craigie beat them on his own. One of the best individual performances I have ever seen.

First time I ever gave up on us , turned over 10 minutes later expecting 36-0 …..... :sign:

B Galea playing at 6 and captain really stepped up that night I remember.

Sort of embarrassing that Ben got mentioned in this thread

A bloke who drained every miniscule of his ability out of his body every week

Tim Smith

Bang.

Now there was a bloke who looked so prodigious and fell off the map like no other did.

When we was 20 he lead Parra to a minor premiership, by 23 he was banished to England (apart from an unsuccessful stint at Cronulla). Had all the talent, but his demons off the field held him back. Retired at 30 after a drink driving incident in England saw him get sacked along with Kevin Locke…...who also belongs in this thread).
