PNG Chiefs discussion

The Junior Kumals defeated Australian Schoolboys today. Not sure of the age of the PNG side, but our schoolboy side was full of players signed up with NRL clubs.

Once the PNG juniors have the ability to train in NRL quality junior pathways, the Chiefs will hopefully have a good proportion of local players in a few years
Nobody knows the age of the PNG side!

I think this will end in tears , the only reason they got a start , was Lying ALBO gave them a heap of cash and the NRL folded about letting them in .
Would love to know if Albo is giving them $600 million every year ,
For PNG getting a leg up for 10 years the other clubs will soon realise there are get f***** over

600 million over 10 years

The honey moon will die off quickly then reality will set in. I think once To’o, Luai’s etc contract ends their days will be numbered

We should be propping up Perth Bears, an actual domestic city with a booming growth… I think everyone will be quietly hoping they succeed.

The other clubs knew it before PNG even got off the ground. They all would have known as soon as they knew that tax breaks were on offer. I can't believe that has been granted for 10 years. A couple of seasons maybe to attract a couple of high profile names and get a bit of immediate success but a decade is far too lopsided.

Not to mention the players get to skip out on paying tax on salaries in the mid-high six and seven figures while everyone paying to watch them still has to give Albo his cut.

And we can argue about the Bears having a year or so head start on PNG but it's the same playing field when the Bears still have to compete with the same taxation system as every other club in the NRL.
