I'm expecting the Greens to get touched up more than Labor…

Seriously, how could anyone in this country vote 'green' when they are preferencing the Coal Miner in Queensland???

Surely there is no creditability left for this plum sucking Milne!

That preference deal was indeed a strange one. Talk about keeping your enemies close.

I saw a Morgan exit poll just then that gave the greens 11% primary vote which is where they were in 2010\. They will have picked up support from Labor voters not happy with the new asylum policy.

This will be ridiculous if he claims the seat of Fisher. Palmer only has 19k votes compared to O'Brien 28k, but on preferences, Palmer might win this seat?!

I understand K Rudds 27k votes compared to Gissane 28k votes.

Then you have Kennedy. Katter has 19k votes compared to Ikin 27k votes, but Katter again wins on preferences.

Surely this is not what the preference system was designed to do???

I put up a status on my Facebook saying hopefully we as a country have made the right decision. I've been attacked by a few mates saying Abbott is the worse PM we've had. It hadn't even been a day. I can't see how twenty year olds can be hardened on supporters for either party.

Your obviously taking the piss…

I was listening to a few debates about NBN and to this minute, I cant even fathom how such a luxury has become an election issue...

Anyway Alex, it will be alot longer than 3 years... Min 6, hopefully 9-12!

Luxury?? Are you kidding?
You think the WT board are dinosaurs, the Liberal mob are even worse. Look at the YT clip about the proposed Internet in other countries for the liberal plan, it's laughable.
We are so far behind in something that is a given in most other developed countries, not a luxury at all.

Very disappointed in the Australian public - they'll believe any tripe that's dished up to them by the media culture. I mean, Clive Palmer gets 2 seats …. seriously? Oh well Australia you got the government you wanted, so good luck for the next however long it takes to piss the Libs off out of power again - you will need it, although the multinationals will be happy :unamused:

Rolling back the NBN is the most short sighted idiotic policy of the whole election. Removing the Carbon Tax and Resources tax a close second and third.

We should pay whatever it takes for the NBN. Yes, the upload speeds are fast, but the main benefit is the development of regional Australia. The NBN will significantly increase the economic capacity of the country with the NBN enabling more areas of the country to generate economic growth. Importantly, it reduces the infrastructure strain on the major capitals.

Pay whatever it takes, but do it now with government bond yields at record lows. The benefits are limitless.

Actually Watto, no, I'm not taking the piss. I travelled through South America earlier in the year and got faster internet speeds in regional areas of Peru and Bolivia than what I get at my home in Leichhardt. Luxurious? Not really.

We have had internet problems for years - the problem? The phone line going in to our house is 30 years old and is of poor quality. Our Internet service provider say they cant do anything as it's Telstra's line. We speak to Telstra, they wont do anything because the roll out of the NBN means that line will be replaced when the NBN comes in. The Liberal Fraudband plan doesn't include Fibre to the Home, meaning they WONT be replacing that line.

As Gary said, the short-sightedness of their policies is mind boggling

Yep. I was getting 5x the internet speed i get now when I was living in Asia in 2001\. Anyone who thinks fast internet is a luxury obviously has no interest in running a small business in the next 20 years.

Im okay with the change if government. Labor failed to sell the fact that they were a very good government. They paid the price for internal silliness and a leader with a personality defect.

But their objective record cant be disputed by any unbiased person. Great economic management. Cost of living hasnt increased since 2007\. Made workplace laws fairer. Got us onto the security council.

Im still waiting for it to be connected at home, so I suppose if you havnt experienced it, you dont know how good it is or what your missing. (Hopefully it will be finalised next week)

I've always figured if I want faster internet, Id simply have to pay for it.

It isn't in the companies interest to roll out faster internet though Watto.

Why pay out the capital expenditure when they overcharge for the current services and make a clean profit doing so?

The worst part about the whole NBN situation, is that WE THE PEOPLE owned the instrument (Telstra) that had a lot of the necessary infrastructure that is now forming part of the network.

As far as the other part goes, whilst I doubt they will, but would be quite within their rights to do so, I hope the new opposition abstain from the gutter politics and putting down of the country like the coalition has been carrying on with, even though it was against our nations interests.
