Helloworld, probably the best asset that the coalition has had for a decade or more has taken a little of the focus away from the latest this shambles of a government her mostly male colleagues continue to form. Banks, O'dwyer and now the even more crucial loss of Bishop, leaves a party/coalition already short on balance, even more so lacking in talent.

Bishop is a big loss for them. Anyone who was contemplating bailing in the next term or two will jump now as they know they'll probably get tossed out on their arse anyway. All the wets who are jumping are probably hoping the drys get absolutely walloped.

People forget what Bishop did as a lawyer fighting against the people who where suffering asbestos related diseases and dying from it.She did everything she could to make sure those victims received no compensation before they died.
She didnt have to fight for the asbestos companies but decided to and to hell with the victims by using every trick to delay and deny their claims.I can never forgive her in making money by letting her 'fellow" Australians suffer and die without any compensation.

I haven't forgotten what she did. I can separate her past as a lawyer to her career as a politician though (although it was fitting she wound up with the Libs.) She made them more palatable and was probably the leading female figure in the party. She is a huge loss to them.

Interesting testimony from Michael Cohen before congress today. Unlike previous times that I have seen him speak, this time around it was plain to see that his words were not only true, but from the heart in describing Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon to the world, a man that he knew very, very well.

Terrible news coming out of Christchurch over the ditch, but what a great first response from their PM. Surprised that we have not seen something similar here, especially given the constant narrative from some of our leacers that continues to embolden and inflame on our shores.

You are correct. As a general rule of thumb the more a politician talks about patriotism and stands in front of their national flag the less i trust them

According to the BBC one of the terrorist/ murderers is reported to be an Australian with far right anti immigration ideas.
Probably one of Paulines nut job followers

INot sure how a foreigner (Australian in NZ) committing an atrocity in another country links back to patriotism, rather than their own warped and racist beliefs or sense of superiority or injustice.

I think those views held by the perpetrators are universal in most mass murder events.

It is their warped view of what patriotism is because some politicians talk bigotry and mistrust of minorities in the name of patriotism. Some people are incapable of differentiating between them.
As Samuel Johnson said "patriotism is the last vestige of the scoundrel"

Ok. So the Charlie Hebdo shootings were also inspired by patriotism?

Most people that commit the atrocities are nutcases, and there is no point in blaming others for or excusing their behaviour.

Very upset right now, shaken by this. What a terrible day…was considering moving to NZ not too long ago because it is such a beautiful place to raise a family.

Not really the time to be debating definitions right now, as with any attack like this it can really impact people. I think because of how much I love and respect NZ people and culture this hits very hard, so I'm not going to weigh in to anything else.

What is worse is when they upped the rhetoric, they also added to the number of flags surrounding their Canberra announcements to the point of becoming a flag fest. The use of the flag in that manner was and is a disgrace.
