Remember this motion in the Senate and the large number of Liberals (Cash, Cormann and Co), Nats and other conservatives who supported it. With Morrison, Dutton and all the other far right conservatives demonising those seeking asylum in Australia, it must truly be shocking for them to realise a terrorist is a home grown Australian. Funny the best Gladys and co can do is wheel out Honest John (cough cough) whose most recent claim to fame is writing a reference for a convicted paedophile priest.

The gunman specifically stated in his 'manifesto' that among his aims were to :
1\. Get Leftists to call for gun bans, and
2\. Start a war between the Left and Right by sarcastically naming right wing political figures in his manifesto.
In other words, people's reactions would be totally predictable and he would be able to manipulate them by his actions.
Judging by reactions both on this forum and in the political landscape at large, it looks like he was spot on in his prediction.

I agree nobody should give him personal notoriety.
But he didn't exist in a vacuum, there are other people who share his ideas, and other dim individuals who will read his writings and agree with his ideology.
Isn't the best way to make sure that doesn't happen, is dismantling his ideas and expose clearly why he is wrong?

Laughable that in general, the coalition government are saying that the discussion in the wake of Christchurch should not be political. Absolute rubbish!
For more than twice the lifetime of my eight year old son, those parties have been fostering hate and creating a divide in our community since they started creating fear, winning an election on the back of knowingly and fraudulently claiming that asylum seekers were throwing their children overboard, whilst also having refused to allow the ill equipped private Norwegian rescue ship Tampa to disembark rescued refugees from another sinking fishing vessel.
There is no doubt that the Australian terrorist responsible for the horrendous massacre of our New Zealand neighbors was affected in some way by their words and actions, just as are people that I know, have been by the consistent narrative.
Quite ironic that most of those people aboard that sinking fishing boat were fleeing a country to which the next month we deployed troops, with our armed services still having a presence to this day.
Edited. Plus, as a hundred or so of those refugees were taken in by New Zealand, I wonder if any of them, or their families, were present at this attack?t

I see Rush Limbaugh promoting a theory that the shooter was a leftie, masquerading as a right winger to make the right look bad. This is what separates the right from the left. Someone from the left does something and the left own it. The right does something and they still blame the left. People go on about the left and how ott they can be, which is totally true. You never, NEVER see these same people call out the loons on the right, the alt right. They bury their heads and pretend this element doesn’t exist. Show me a media outlet on the left that is as crazy as InfoWars. I dare you.
