You think it’s just Macron? Morrison is a fool on the world stage and it shows for all the world to see.

it seems anyone that doesn't tow the left agenda is a "fool" according to some.

I’m hardly a lefty. You only have to watch what he does and listen to what he says and you know he is a fool and a liar. Way out of his depth in the world stage. Embarrassing for Australia really.

so you believe Macron ... why he is gearing up for his own elections and talking rubbish
Morrison did what any leader would have done tear up the contract it was a dud deal signed by turnbull and Pine.

And you believe Morrison despite being a habitual liar. There you go.

I know when he’s telling lies, it’s when he opens his mouth. I don’t believe a word he says.

Its not what Macron said. Its what Morrison refused to say when openly asked if he lied - he did the usual pollie jibberish about whatever he does is in the best interests of Australia. Refused to actually answer the question asked. Reading between the lines of what he actually said and in refusing to answer directly would strongly suggest that Macron is right.

I believe Macron over our steaming pile of pork-barelling crap.

Whether Macron is correct or not it’s pretty poor form to call a leader of another nation a liar in public,.

no they didn't
thank God elections are not decided by social media platforms good grief

In this scramble to determine if we upset Emmanuel Macron or the French, did we do what was best for Australia?

Macron was correct in saying Scammo is a liar, most Australians know it even including many who are liberal voters.I am sure his puppet master/owner in the USA (Murdoch) will come out in full support of Scammo and his government and continue the process of misinformation and lies his media is known for.

There is no doubt as far as a deterrent is concerned that nuclear is a stronger option, however there are drawbacks to this in that conversely we become a far higher target for preemptive hostile action even though we are not nuclear armed(thank goodness). The other main concern is maintenance of the submarines reactor will probably have to take place in the USA as i doubt we would have the facilities here now or in the future.
Certainly a better submarine but far more expensive and perhaps not as cost effective

Good summary well expressed. A much more significant discussion IMO than did we upset the French.

Why does it matter what Macron says or thinks?

He's simply grandstanding because the French have a very high opinion of themselves, are easily offended and very rarely agree to terms that aren't in their favour.

It's not like we're allies with the frogs or anything. Hardly have anything to do with them besides competing on exports for various products.

Gotta do what's best for us and not worry about the opinion of leaders like Macron...

Exactly,he is saving face. Can you imagine if a PM lost a Contract like that?

If its a much better deal (it is IMO) and the price we pay is having a Frenchman upset with us in front of the press, its a cheap price.

Yes it was
even the staunch Labor supporters should realise labor would have done the same thing
it was a dud deal worked out by turnbull and Pine,

Imagine if you were ambidextrous .....

1. 162,000 Australians died in France WW1 & WW2. Macron should bear that in mind.
2. It was a dumb deal in the first place.
3. A number of Senior Dept officials are leaking that we did advise them of their constant changing of the goal posts, plus France wanting to built the first couple in France ! Not in the Contract.
4. Always a risk trusting Sleepy Joe to remember anything of importance.
5. Rainbow Warrior (thought we forgot that didnt you Macron)
6. Anyone who thinks China or Indonesia doesnt have an eye on Australia in the next 20 to 50 years is naive.
7. A Nuclear Deterrent is vital for our long term military survival and indeed Power.
8. There are 443 Nuclear Reactors in the world at the moment.
9. Three Accidents:

Three Mile Island 42 years ago.
Chernobyl, 35 years ago
Fukashima ,10 years ago.

10. Anybody who thinks Albanese is a better option than ScoMo is delusional.
