If you are going to analyse (pretty much correctly if not a little simplistically) US foriegn policy over the last 20 years, then you also have to address the foreign policy of the US since 2016 in which they have had a isolationist policy, not committing new troops to any front and withdrawing thousands of troops from the ME. Trumps foriegn policy has been very dovish and isolationist.

This attack was explicitly in retaliation for the Iranian attack on teh US embassy. I can not understand why no one acknowledges this. it is a pretty significant part of the puzzle.

Understood and there is no argument that war is good. But if the US embassy (full of civilians) is attacked and set alight as it was on Wednesday, can you imagine any scenario where there wouldnt be retaliation for that?

The worst part is when old rupert dies his son takes over and he according to most sources is even more extreme.As a bloke in his mid 60s i will miss the worse of what is coming but i feel disgusted by the fact that it is the young who will suffer from the lack of action which is required from our "leaders"
