Result: People protest on the street, wave US flags and pro US banners, Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon and US are more popular than in US.
Please explain.
What's to explain, they don't want to be under the thumb of a Communist regime? Who does? Communism does not work. They had their own laws, system of government and autonomy as a British colony, to which they benefit from and don't wish to change. They want to retain their system, which has never had anything to do with the US. For whatever reason HK protestors identify the US as being synonymous with freedom.
**But since China is now such a economic powerhouse in it's own right they don't rely on Honkers to make up such a large part of their economy (I'd have to source the figures again but at one point HK represented something like one third of China's GDP, they now only represent less than 3% IIRC,) which is why they were once happy to let HK have their special administrative zone but now they have accelerated the timeline on absorbing HK into the PRC (I think it was meant to be originally 50 years or something like that.)**
this ^^
china knows there is too much at stake to intervene in HK. We live in a world where information is disseminated in a matter of minutes. HK is a dot in the ocean. I notice the news we have in AUS ABC etc is very very bias though (anti china). Even xianjiang is exaggerated by western media.
