Poor Crowd again!

Look at today's crowd at WIN…full house and that would be the same if they played at Oki Stadium or whatever its called. I think it maybe time the WT culled their home grounds to one to two grounds rather than 3 as they have today...The club is confused and so are the fans...there is not the engagement between the club and the fans that there should be.

It would be nice if the players could show the same enthusiasm about playing at C-town that they show for Leichardt. It feels as though they see it as a chore to play at C-town

1000000% spot on.

Players probably do see it as a chore - most of them would live closer to LO.

Also the OP said the game was heavily promoted. I disagree with this, I live in Macarthur and there really was bugger all build up to the match.

Alexaki did you go last night?

I hope you did mate, because if you didn't, then this thread, and more directly your OP is a laughing stock…

The players have made a point in recent times of saying they love playing at campbelltown.

I didn't realise we were playing at campbelltown until I saw the council no parking signs out front of my house on Friday.

I went and it was very cold, I noticed the family hill was pretty empty.. Perhaps not too many families wanted their kids in weather that felt colder than new york over Christmas.

This and the cowboys.

I would love to see the tigers play a Sunday against bulldogs or dragons, teams with fans that travel.

I would still like to see the figures on how much we actually make from the SFS vs LO vs CSS

If CSS or LO gets 12,000 people, say at a low estimated average of $10 a person… that equals $120,000
If we get 15,000 people that = $150,000
20,000 people = $200,000 etc etc

How much do we get from the SFS if we get:
- 12,000 people?
- 15,000 people?
- 20,000 people?
\

This question has never been answered.

I believe WT and Roosters each get paid around 70k to play at SFS. Guaranteed regardless of crowd. ANZ is around 100k i think. Thats why souths play there.

You all talk about crowd figures like it impacts on the financial viability of our club!!! Look at the highest rating shows on foxtel , marry that up with subscriptions and then talk about a tv contract with possibly 7 zeroes … TEAMS dont make they're money through the gate!!! Bigger picture guys.

Unfortunately CSS does not have the luxury of scheduled Sunday afternoon games. A shame the weather was so cold as I'm sure this had an impact on the crowd figures. I got cold just from watching the game at home

As I mentioned in an earlier post I was there last night…and it was a lovely night....brisk yes, too cold to come out and support your team...I think not.....look at the POMS...they support their team no matter what the weather....

Monkey I was there last night….I'm a WT member and attend all home games and even some away...went to see them play the titans this year...and was planning to go to watch them play in Melbourne but couldn't due to work commitments

I was at the game. Atmosphere was great. I thought the entertainment was excellent with the guys flying in with parachutes and goal kicks to win a car! I've been to a few games this year it was good to see something different than just another kids relay race and cheerleaders.

Don't forget that Panthers fans are one of the worst when it comes to travelling to away games at the best of times and wouldn't help when they are coming second last. If we were playing a popular team we could easily have added a few more thousand people.

Anyway, not sure why the size of the crowd is being blamed on the people from the West? That's a poor arguement. Wests Tigers fans are everywhere. I don't live in the west, but I wouldn't blame anyone from the west being insulted by this thread.

I would still love to know what the membership data shows as to where our supporters are.

I guarantee more than 50% of the Tigers fans at that game came from suburbs outside the Macarthur (you need only see the WT's stickers on the cars heading up the M5 after the game to see that lot's of Tigers fans like me don't live in the area).

I'm not putting the Campbelltown people down, I don't blame them for being disenchanted with the club (8 games a year within 5k's of Sydney CBD isn't a western Sydney club), what I want to know is would we be better off, one way or another to bite the bullet and move all games to the SFS (I was a Balmain fan who loves and adores Leichhardt but sees the writing on the wall), or do we move once and for all to Campbelltown and really get stuck into making the area our home?

I'm a WT's gold member by the way so I do spend my money and get to all the home games, I must admit I do envy the other teams who have only the one home - I think we need a solid identity and this travelling gypsy lifestyle the club has is counter-productive imo.

Bad comparison Alexaki,
The poms don't have a choice . They can't just sit back and wait for the next sunny Sunday to come, they might never get to go a game if that was the case. They play every week in the freezing cold so they are use to it.
And Saturday night wasn't just a brisk night, it was bloody freezing. I had to buy my 11yr old son a jacket that was about 3 sizes too big as that was all they had at the gear zone van.

My parents are in the Macarthur area and they didn't even know the game was on. Yes regular supporters know but what about the others?
As someone said its this gypsy lifestyle at least other clubs know every second week a game is on in their area.
I wouldn't care what ground we have but we don't need 3 or 4 different grounds for game day plus another to train all too confusing for the mum and dads.

For a ground the only gets 4 games a year the weather shouldn't be a deciding factor

What about the fact we had lost 3 in a row and it was against the team coming 2nd last?

Combine all the factors and it adds up. Anyone who expected 20k+ is off their head.

From my recollection of the figures it wouldn't do alot more than cover expenses for the most part.

It isn't great that we have to allocate the games across 3 grounds but financially it is imperative in my opinion and bigger picture it makes us open to draw from a bigger audience pool.

There needs to be research in place though to try and maximise our crowds across the board.

If it means using part of the buffer we gain from the SFS to reduce ticketing costs to our lower drawing fixtures scheduled at CSS I think it could be worth exploring

The whole allocation needs to be reviewed. The decision to take matches to Homebush was against the backdrop of crowds in 2003\. Both Campbelltown and Leichhardt were averaging well below 10,000\. The decision at the time was correct.

However, 9 years later and both grounds have along term average of just over 13,000\. Both averaged well over 15,000 last season with Campbelltown almost averaging 16,000\. The Wests Tigers brand is now 9 years older. Can only begin to imagine the differences between membership levels of 2003 and today. Therefore, do we really need to be playing at the SFS?

The issue I see is sponsorship. Have we tied some of our sponsorship to playing at the SFS? Because of such sponsorships, has playing at the SFS now become a permanent strategy of the club and we will never go back to 6 & 6? I would be rather disappointed if that was the case. As fans of two clubs that were forced to merge, we have had to give up enough already.

Noyce stated back in 2004 taking games to Homebush was to ensure the viability of the club and the goal was to return to 6 & 6\. Surely it is now worth a trial for a few seasons.
