We’re competing, but changes need to be made. Time to see if Cleary has what it takes.

I tend to agree. I think Nofo, Godinet need to go. McQueen must be getting very close to getting a shot..

I’m here nor there with Noffa. With MWZ injured, there aren’t many other options. Godinet offers nothing. No idea what Cleary sees in him. McIlwrick, while limited, offers heaps more, by comparison.

Are you crook Happy?

Good thread mate. We must be doing something right when we play like trash in attack and still manage to lose by only two points.

Even when things don't click in attack they still dip in and have a go off the ball. That's all I ask.

Was waiting for your barb

Why isn't anyone numbering their positive thoughts

Do I have to do everything :unamused:

I love this thread. The game was high quality so much better than many games on the weekend. They never throw in the towel. And are way ahead of quite a few teams un the comp. Plus we still have a few players to come back.

Agree re: Godinet, i'm not sure what he sees in him either. It would be helpful to pick up another winger pre June 30 (if there's anyone available)

Has what it takes in regards to what?
Liddle doesn't have 80 in him ATM, so we are wasting a bench spot with a 2nd hooker. Would love to have Liddle being able to produce a quality 80 min, then we could have Gamble as a versatile bench player.
Apart from that injury is determining who we have running around, once we get Packer, ET, Twal, Reynolds and perhaps Tui fit and available then Ivan's job gets a bit easier at the selection table. The fact that we have ressonable depth to cover the loss of all those mentioned is the reason we are only losing by small margins.

Fair to say we lack the brains sometimes but never heart. This team never gives up. That’s what I’m loving atm. And despite being only 2 wins off the lead, we still have a few critical players to return & plenty of improvement in us.

Just gotta keep working hard.

Im positive that we need J Reynolds in the side, and once there hopefully he can string some games together. Benji was great early in the season, but at 33 he can’t play 80mins every week. His options and kicking today were at times poor. We need him to give us 25-30mins of Marshall Magic, I think it’ll make us a better side

My biggest concern is burnout with some of our younger forwards. Otherwise the mighty Wests Tigers are doing us proud.

Fanua great debut.
Really happy with Esans goalkicking.
Seem to be able to find a try when we need one.
ET Packer and Twal to return.

This is the comp evening out, I don't even think the "worst" teams in the comp are that bad - almost anyone can beat anyone else every week, just depends on some luck and good decisions.

Tigers have won 3 games by 2 or less and now lost 3 games by 2\. The upside is obviously that we are in every match until the final whistle and we've done a decent job at winning the close ones. This week and last week are testing our consistency and depth, and frankly we've come up just a tad short, but a bounce here or there and we win both of these two games.

Tigers just have to keep rolling up, keep playing this style of footy an, injury gods willing, we should win more than half our games.

This evening specifically, just really disappointed to lose to Parra. I thought we played ok, fairly patchy, and unlike earlier in the season we have had two weeks where we couldn't defend our mistakes.

Defence overall still pretty good, I thought we handled Parra quite well despite 4 tries, 1 of which was a 1-1 kick, 1 speccy offload and 2 blatant forward passes that get called back in another week. Parra had a lot of ball in our end which we turned away quite well.

I was impressed by the intensity at times, scoring after the Mannah error and the big defensive set after Eels scored, to get the ball back in good position. Obviously though our lower completion rate and also the position in which ball is being given back, esp 4th and 5th tackle penalties, hurts.

Most teams have warmed up now, 8 rounds, you aren't going to surprise anyone anymore.

But we are still firmly in Top 8 and just one win off the second-placers. Tight comp this yr.

Look, I agree with all the positives but I thought that our right side defence was (i was going to say gutless but In the spirit of this thread I'll be lenient) at times confused. I do think a positive would be bringing McQueen into the side.

the positive is that in every game we are competitive and making the opposition earn those wins. We are heaps better than last year and alas injuries to key players have not helped but atleast we have reasonable depth now to cover.

The biggest positive personally ; is that ,despite my clinging doubts about some of our signings, we are way ahead of where I thought we would be at this stage of this years comp.

Also it’s been great to be able to turn on the TV and actually think that we have a chance in any given game

Sorry to be negative in a positive thread, but I disagree.
I wouldnt call it high quality, lots of errors…lots or penalties, it was a bludger of a game imo

And all thos banging on about 3x2 point losses, yes- while its better than 20 point losses...these are the losses that cost teams semis spots - are we the new canberra raiders?

No quality in yesterday's game. No quality including the ref's. Some flashes but wasn't quality.

Not a bad thread Happy, and I agree. We're further ahead than where i thought we'd be and I wouldn't say we have played poorly in the games we have lost. We certainly haven't been at our best but in each of the losses we have been on the wrong side of the possession and penalty ledger and we've had key personnel on the sidelines.

There's far more upside than downside. Yesterday was frustrating as we never got into any real rhythm, but we also never dominated the ruck. That's two weeks in a row where we have lost the ruck, but only lost by 2 points - I take that as a positive because in previous seasons we would leak 20-30 points in losing the ruck. There's much more fight in this squad, even when things aren't going our way.
