Possible 2014 Signings

the best signing wests-tigers could make for season 2014, is Steve Folkes. :bulb: 😛ray:
the wheels of change are turning, so get him back here, and wests-tigers will become the force they deserve to be.

Tom and George Burgess

Tom- 250k
George 350k

Imagine our forwards with Aaron Woods, Keith Galloway, George, Tom, Buchanan & Ava.

Would never happen. Or for that price either.

Yet to see how Taupau and Gavet go in first grade, but for 2015 I'd like to see a decent prop added to the squad. Someone like Ben Matulino, Jesse Bromwich, Brenton Lawrence etc

Wont leave souths unless forced, and you can add 100k to both of those figures, maybe more for George.

What about Matt Keating as cover for Robbie during origin.?

_Posted using RoarFEED 2013_

Matt Keating is very, very ordinary. As is Kris Keating, the Dog's will keep Hodkinson now I reckon- he is miles ahead of Kris Keating and the Dog's have now realized it.

**The Dogs halves combo last year was the difference between a GF win/loss.**

Who was it, Keating and Reynolds wasn't it? Reynolds is a decent enough player but Keating is a dud.
The difference in the GF last year was that Barba was nowhere to be seen, much like this season.

His Broncos bound anyways lol.

Why don't WT start bringing some of the better Under 20 players up to NRL standard so by 2015/16 we have a seasoned group of young players who would get experience from players like Farrah etc,and build towards the Premiership. Also if WT are looking at proberly cheaper players have a look in the Qld cup comp, namely Northern Pride and Mackay Cutters,if the are not already signed by the Cowboys (who also could do with some help)..Just my thoughts….

Would you go for Shaun Johnson ?

He has all the excitement and skill of Benji Marshall…....and all the negatives of Benji too.

He is not what we need.

Could not agree more. Time to develop what we have under a decent defensive coach and allow Potter to concentrate on getting the teams focus back into a winning mentality.

I don't get all the Steve Folkes mania..

I know we did well when he was here, but he was the the Strength and Conditioning coach. Normally not the man that gets credit for success and blame for failure.

The last 2 years he has been a defense coach with Saints, not exactly a great time for the dragons and in his last 4 years as head of the Dogs their performance was pretty average and resulted him in being sacked. HIs great era as a coach ended a decade ago.

IMO there are a number of great options around for assistant roles. Justin Morgan is a very talented coach who is looking for a chance back home (he is here but looking for a coaching gig). Andy Patmore has done all the hard yards and would be great. Even Kevvie might be interested if he didnt get the cowboys gig. There are others as well.

Folkes wouldn't make my top 10

Then you as your name suggests are a Goose

Just to back that up
Folkes Record
11 years in charge of the Dogs - 7 Finals , 2 Grand Finals, 1 Premiership and 1 DQ when they won 20 games out of 24

2 Years at Tigers - 2 years in top 4 - either side of which we missed the finals

2 Years at Dragons as Defensive coach
2012 - Dragons came 9th - but had 4th best defence
2013 - Dragons coming 15th but have 11th best defence

The areas Folkes looked after in 2010 and 2011 have gone backwards severely since his departure.

This should be plan to see.

Name call all you like. However I like to dig a little deeper.

He was S & C coach with us. DO you know who the S and C coaches are at Melbourne, Manly and Souths ? why does he get so much credit for those years, no other S&C coach ever gets credit (or blame).

Saints have struggled in his reign

He was an outstanding coach at the bulldogs no doubt. But he did get sacked from there in 2008….After 4 leanish years (with the exception of 06).. the game has changed alot since his last success. HIs golden period was clearly 98-04, that is a decade ago.

Im not saying he cant coach, but he is not the magical elixir that he is being proclaimed. He had a wonderful career, but their is alot of young talent out there that IMO have far more to offer.

I suspect given your name calling you know little about suggestions I made......ask someone who know anything about coaching what they think of Morgan or Padmore.

Yep the only solution is the only name you know about

This is a real funny one isn't it. I see people getting their knickers in a knot over signing a fitness coach. I mean Folau or Folkes ? Thurston or Folkes ? One of the Burgess boys or Folkes ?

Folkes must be providing his own special cocktail to make the players grow a foot or two or there are some dudes smoking some good stuff on here.
