@Cultured Bogan said:@tig_prmz said:@innsaneink said:@tig_prmz said:i think with the liberty the board gave sheens, as in let him do whatever he wished might be an indication about how they treat potter as well. i think potter will get whatever he wants from the board and the CEO
The board didnt have to worry about an ex coach owed nearly $1m during Sheens' term like they will while Potter is here
potter wouldn't have any unrealistic expectations from the board anyway.
he'll more than likely know what the board is capable of providing him with and make plans accordingly.
and if he doesnt, then who is the club honest with, if not the coach?
They didn't just sack Sheens one year into a three year contract for no reason. It appears that the board will no longer accept poor performance (whatever the catalyst was for this seemingly abrupt change in their approach to this is anyone's guess,) but they (the board,) would no doubt have minimum expectations that Potter will need to meet next season.
It has been a rather costly lesson for the club, but don't think that the board (or sections of the fanbase and sponsors,) will be happy with just scraping into the eight only to be barrelled out in week one of the finals with the squad we have.
@innsaneink said:I asked them to ask him what his intentions were re: Anasta considering Marshall & Miller are in the halves.
He said while hes comfortable in the halve he's also capable at LOCK …but he will see how all players acquit and apply themselves over pre season
Rather non commital as expected at this stage

Don't think I missed the point KS The problem this side is going to have is the memories of the last month of footy in 2012
We go mucking around with with combinations during the pre season and trials we will severely dint this teams confidence going into the season proper and we get some tough games early we could be in serious strife
Mess around with the forwards and backs to a degree all you like , but set the spine up trial one and keep it there to build combinations and confidence
A question or thought though …....
**We have all assumed it was Sheens who didn't like Miller , what happens if it was Marshall or Farah and they said they didn't want to play with him for some reason ???**

@happy tiger said:Goose ,should of said that he (Sheens,Marshall or Farah) didn't think he was up to it (not didn't like him )
I meant it in that sense
Whether he was ready or not (similiar to Lui in many regards) he was the next best 7 at the club that would compliment Benji at 6 and should of got the job
Moving Benji to 7 just created more issues everywhere
@Snodgrass said:I watched a reply of the NYC Bulldogs semi final the other day and you know (pulling a screwed up face) I still can't make my mind up about Miller. His kicking game was OK but he does this kind of shoulder straightening thing before sending the ball wide, as if he doesn't have the strength to throw a decent pass without his chest being at 47.37 degrees to the intended recipient (or something) and that takes time off the outside runners. This was noticeable at this level, which is of course many yards slower than the top grade, where it would translate into his centres or fullback getting buried. And he didn't ever really threaten the line in this game.
He seems to have all the armory (short of passing strength) and for a halfback his defense is Tigerish (pun intended) but I keep pulling that constipated, screwed up face look every time I think of him.
Really hope I'm wrong

I was not so much responding to your comment, but the aggregate of all comments by loads of posters, it seems that many feel Miller was done a great injustice by not playing that must first grade in the last 2 years, I dont feel that is the case.
Had he of played NRL this year i would not have jumped up and down and claimed he should not be there, and there is a clear logic to leaving marshall at 6 and promoting miller.

Isn't that what you'd expect at this stage? He hasn't even taken one training session yet.
There was a lot to like about that transcript but as we discovered under Sheens, talk is cheap and the boys need to get out there and perform. No more excuses.

He would of taken a lot from being coached by them
Someone mentioned to me that he was one of the hardest working coaches in the ESL

Don't forget that MP had Peter Mulholland as coach when he was at the Western Reds in 1995, MP never played under Roy Masters and he was basically only ever coached at a first grade level by the Wok and Brian Smith, some coaches spawn a plethora of new generation coaches and again it's happened here.
