Happy u have missed the point. It appears Blotto knows Potter, and has said Mick will move players around to gain versatility to cover injuries. For me he doesnt really need to do it, only make sure those capable of playing in the halves all know the plays.
Don't think I missed the point KS The problem this side is going to have is the memories of the last month of footy in 2012
We go mucking around with with combinations during the pre season and trials we will severely dint this teams confidence going into the season proper and we get some tough games early we could be in serious strife
Mess around with the forwards and backs to a degree all you like , but set the spine up trial one and keep it there to build combinations and confidence
A question or thought though …....
We have all assumed it was Sheens who didn't like Miller , what happens if it was Marshall or Farah and they said they didn't want to play with him for some reason ???
I think it is wrong to assume anyone did not like him.
I know people are pointing to the fact that he did not get an extended run in the NRL as reason that he was not wanted.
The fact that a 19 yo half back got a crack in 2011 and a few more games this year prob points to just the opposite IMO, kids dont normally get a crack in key positions too early in the piece.
I think he is talented and am hoping he becomes a good first grader, but IMO he is still very much a work in progress.
So far from the NYC 3 half backs in 5 years (Johnson, Reynolds and DCE, have locked down the first choice half back spot with Ben Hunt and Sam Williams playing lots of first grade but as either a back up or in Hunts case in another position. None of these did this whilst being eligible for NYC and only Johnson played significant NRL in his first year out of NYC. At NYC level the 3 mentioned that have locked down a 7 jersey were far more dominant at NYC level and still had to bide there time.
Most on here would not have seen an awful lot of Miller as we did not get many TV games this season and in many cases the only game they have seen him play is the GF, he was outstanding in the GF and looked first grade ready. However if you had only seen his game against the rooster in rnd 23 or there abouts, people would be saying that he was a complete bum (which is not the case either).
He was a slightly built 20 yo playing in a key spot, with a few question marks on his defense which seems to have steadilly improved over 3 years in NYC, it makes complete sense to me not to play Miller in 2012\. Another full off season to further develop both physically and his skill set may see him become an excellent NRL player in 2013, even if this does happen, it does not make Sheens wrong in 2012.
