Potter on 2MMM

If that comment is true it is a brave one to make. Once you start bagging senior players in the media it is usually a one way ticket out of a place. They deserve a bagging however you have to be careful. I mean it didn't look like they were playing for him today, so maybe he thinks he needs to spark things up. Might work who knows.

To be honest I can never really get a feel for Potter in the media. If he is angry, its hard to tell, if he is happy its hard to tell. He doesn't give much insight. I just hope his team talks are not as dull as his media work. I listen to Bellemy, Maguire, Toovey and co and you get passion and or insight. Mick doesn't give the media that however that is not his job. Just an observation.

What emotion do u get from Hasler or Bennett in the media???

I heard this. He intimated it was Farah and Anasta as he said they were players who should have known better. He did follow this up however by saying it wasn't just those 2\. He wasn't happy with the forwards constantly calling for the ball close to the line either. All combined, these people forced the team away from the structure they had practised.

Sounds similar to comments Sheens made before and after he was shafted. Sheens was constantly going on about how the team went away from the game plan after 20 minutes. Perhaps the coaches are not the problem.

We can't afford a 10k fine tbh. Toovey has a rich owner to pay his fines.

well mr Potter your the person with his head on the chopping block .drop Anasta never to be seen again in the top grade ,because if you persist you are a dead man walking .the guy with the fuzzt hair ava? is a goose giving a penalty away with 90 seconds on the clock ,then with 30 seconds to go we I think Patterson gives away another penalty and two points ,,they just couldn't back themselves to make 3 more tackles .for christs sake their half was Michael Witt and even he made us look silly at times
as for going off the game plan ,that's just another potter cop out .we had 70 percent of the ball and we had control ,problem was when saints had the ball we couldn't control them .

The coach fears that he will be shafted if he upsets, i.e. drops etc, any of the influential senior players. What hope for the club if this is true?

The players moving away from the plan obviously need to take a good hard look at themselves, prefer having a good shot at winning or not listen to the coach?

I thought i noticed Farah playing a traditional 9 role early but slowly slipped back to his old game of placing himself in the halves. Maybe thats the influence Potter is talking about. Robbie ignored instructions to stay at 9.

Thought that too.
One aspect of micks coaching I'm way too unsure of is his half time talks . Our team seems to dip a lot post half time every game last year.

I'd say he's referring to Anasta and Farah and if Anasta is one, then for Brooks sake, we'd be better off with Austin to partner Brooks in the halves. Dump Anasta and put a rocket up Robbie.

His talking about Farah. Benji and Farah have always done what they wanted.
Farah needs to just play the hooker role and let everyone else do their jobs.
Farah made it clear to Potter last year that he is the boss after Potter gave him a rest in one of our early games. Potter never did that again.

I understand the concern re halftime from a tactical perspective, but surely the want to win should be enough to see the team come out strong in the second half. I mean how many people on here have their boss come in at lunch time and pep them up for the rest of the days work????

If Mick thinks Robbie is the problem be man enough to drop him. He should have dropped Benji to the NSW cup last year.

I like Mick Potter but I think he is the problem. We seem to lack structure in our play both in defence and attack. I heard Blocker on the radio yesterday say that he reckons most teams during the week would focus 70% on defence and 30% on attack and he thinks we do it the other way around.

The players for mine aren't responding to him. Yes our youngsters have improved but that is natural by playing at NRL level. I think we need a no nonsense coach like a Brain Smith to come in and put a broom through the place.

Going away from the game plan is only part of the problem.

We are still the dumbest team in the comp as we give away so many stupid penalties. We then get too damned tired to tackle effectively then other teams steamroll us.

Stop the stupid penalties first!

Only game one so plenty of football to go but needs to be fixed quickly. Potter needs to address the big heads in the team - we dispatched one last season in Marshall that pretty much destroyed the season. Farrah and Co. need to be told to pull their heads in and worry about their own game. If each player does THEIR job at 100% for 80 minutes then we will be very competitive with all comers.

I would like to see Potter see out the year , but as we all know Potter is walking a thin line and needs to get results.Farah totally went of the game plan after 20 minutes and I'm not sure if Potter can rein in his ego.

If he does go we need to fork out for a big name coach who will not put up with this crap from Farah eg Bellamy or Hasler type coach. Its basically their way or the highway and the players know it and respect it.
