Potter to take reins from Sheens

Just out of interest who was the last "captain/coach" in the NRL? (or more to the point, who was the last successful "captain/coach"?)

Wally Lewis in the early nineties at the Gold Coast,before that Bob Fulton at Easts in I think 1978,both were flops.

I remember Russell Fairfax at easts in early 90's also

sure sheens hasnt been the best coach for a whlie now but he is TIM SHEENS the man who helped show every tigers fan the most amazing prize in NRL, without hm we would never have won the grand final, so i dont think its right to blame our no so great sesons there is more to a club then just a coach. What about the big me in suits i bet they are partly to blame they shoud learn how to run a club right and know how to think about the future of the club, and think about how they spend thei money o that we have a great team and one that isnt full of half backs and five eights.
so who ever the new coach is or captain coach i hope they stand up and talk to the men at the top and tell them to get their act together and thnk about the future of this club and what it means to the suporters.

If Potter doesn't hear anything soon he will be taking the Roosters u/20's coaching role. Could we please get a real CEO, sack the boards and sign the best candidate before we lose him to another club.

I don't blame him if he accepts the Roosters under 20's job. Humphries and the board are so incompetent it's not funny.

I actually thought the decision would of all ready been made and the job at hand was underway and officially announced this week ! But I guess the egos of all concerned have to be stroked . Maybe sometime soon the club might have a leader with leadership qualities that is on the front foot and working towards the success of the club!

Is it a case of not enough money to appoint a competent coach? Is it a case of too many chefs (committe and board members etc) spoiling the broth? Who is in charge? For the good of the club there has to be one in charge to make the final decision. Just give the leading contender a one year contract with the option of more to be decided mid way through 2013 and get on with it.

What would lead you to believe that Potter would tell a member of the public the truth? Perhaps a deal already has been done and we're waiting on an announcement due to Sheens' payout and Potter just has to say no, I haven't heard anything. I don't know how far I'd read into comments made by Potter.
