I think Potter is dead man walking I'm afraid…

Good Luck Todd

In my opinion Todd is the worst candidate of the three

I can't see Todd garnering any respect from the older players

SOS Koukash please , for the love of God 😛ray: :sign:

I've been told that both Potter & Payten will get the chop and Kidwell will get the gig .

Interesting??? Really anyone of the three could could do a good job if they have 100% support from the board, the players, have the necessary finances to be competitive and their fair share of luck from the injury god. If Kidwell is the coach they are leaning towards, he must have scored well in the Brian Smith report. IMO coaching is not the issue, its the M and MS–MONEY and MANAGEMENT

Out of the current group I'd give Webster a go ,but why the hell are we looking at rookies .somebody pay somebody big dollars and entice a top coach and the rest will fall Into place .money talks and Harry has plenty .

but he did give rowe a go and when he looked crap he kept picking him, when he had korro sitting in the nsw cup side and korro was in the top 25, so work that out.

I like Potter but how can you possibly justify these decisions. I just hope if he stays he learns from his mistakes.

Mike Bailey the clown blabbering to the media yet again. Just shut up you incompetent fool.

Honestly…

I have no dog in this fight, however, I do know Mike Bailey whom I met a very long time ago when he was with Western Suburbs. A nicer man you would not meet and has always had the best interest of the club at heart.

To call him an incompetent fool says more about you than him.

Honestly.

Incompetent fool and nice guy are two very different concepts. I have never met the guy thought can see that he probably is a nice guy. Lets be real though nice guy is not on the list of 'Critical requirements' or 'must haves' on the position description of chairman

Incompetent sounds harsh. Having said that, competence can only be assessed vs the requirements of a position. So first Mikes competence needs to be assessed against what is required of a chairman.

Perhaps some context on the role of a chariman may help us assess his competence

Critical requirements:
*Ability to lead and manage the other board members
*Previous applicable experience such as leadership or functional expertise which will add value to the direction of the organisation
*Proven track record - only the best become board members
*Successful experience similar organisation

So, relative to the role Mike it is unlikely that we would assess him as competent. Thus the oppositive of competent becomes applicable.

So that leaves us with the word fool. A tough one as it is used with venom above. However a fool is merely someone that make foolish decisions frequently. The decision to be a chairman of a major football club without fitting the critical requirements of the role feels like a foolish decision. Many of the things that have come out of the Tigers feel like foolish decisions. .

I am confident he has good intentions. I am confident that many people have the best of intentions. Unfortunately intentions and performance are not closely correlated.

Next time, lets hire on something other than nice guy and good intentions.

Thats the point. He is not hired but a representative from the Wests Group. They believe he is serving their interests.

Somebody else mentioned Penn is not often in press.

Point is the media wrongly accused board led by him as about to sack Potter on Saints gameday and wrongly said football oprations report was initiated by WT board when it was in fact initiated by NRL. All this needed clarification and it was don well by Bailey.

Don't expect miracles from independent directors.

They are only their to represent the NRLs funding of the financially failed Balmain by proxy.

Don't expect these people to appoint super coaches.

We had the coach who met the above criteria, Aussie coach, but most ppl whinged & complained. The same ppl that are still complaining. We will never make the finals whilst we place our hope in reserve graders & potential. Our roster is the least experienced that I have ever seen. Tim Sheens continued to attract the high profile experienced players that are required and bled the young talent as slowly as he could. Unfortunately, the club has been a mere shadow of itself since he was dumped except for the odd good run. Go Weststigers!

After the ways the broncos have gone recently I still say Griffin is the best available if Potsy is pushed.

You are aware that we only made the finals three times in ten years aren't you? Tim could not have done any better with this team and the injuries we have had.

There have been plenty of coaching positions available but he still hasn't turned up anywhere else!

You were a champion player Mick and I feel that the amateurish Wests Tigers have crucified you to skim over their own deficiency in all areas of running a successful NRL team both in the management and player ranks. Shame on you Wests Tigers. You have done no wrong pal….what a mob of ratbags we have here in our management, supporter and player ranks alike.

When you select forwards from 1 to 5 ,after releasing 3 wingers mid season that tells me you don't have a clue .every team can find a fast kid and slot them onto the wing and get some success . When you look at our last 5 purchases who is potter kidding .fringe first graders and has beens are all we seem to attract.who knows maybe a 54 % winning coach might go ok if griffin wants the job ?who would he attract ?

I agree, would be very ironic if Mick Potter was moved on, and he became a very successful coach at another club.

Potter brought in Corey Paterson, a second rower who Mick picked to play wing in the last few matches. Corey is definitely not blessed with the speed expected of an NRL winger. He also admits he struggles with confidence, No wonder at 27 he has lost interest in rugby league and is leaving Wests Tigers. How can Mick attract reasonable players to Wests Tigers after being involved in episodes like this? I think Potter has to be replaced and very soon.

So let me get this right - if you had a squad of 20 or so players to choose from and there were only 3 fit outside backs you would send the team out missing 2 players?

Does anyone on here truly believe that Potter wants to play forwards on the wing????

Thank you cq! There were so many one sided posts on this thread I thought I had been reading Woman's Day! Good to read a post that makes sense.

@cqtiger,absolutely agree,Potter can only do his best with what he has got…you can't put contracted players back to state cup and bring young ones in it doesn't work like that unfortunately..hence the second tier salary cap...some people are quick to critise selections when his hands are tied..hell I don't want to see players out of position but what options has he got left...let's realise three quarters of our main squad who are pretty classy players that other clubs would have in an instant are out injured, if we haven't the depth to replace them then this is what's left to select a team from..I honestly don't believe it's all Potters doing either, interference from within is a huge possibility :bash 😛ray: :bash 😛ray:

I feel sorry for Potter, I think he was doing a good job with this Team, But due to injuries & some Players not putting in & no support from the Board i think Tim has to go. If he gets the job for next year i just think we will have more of the same crap.

Well said Cq and TrueTiger - nice to read a bit of sense on this thread.
You can only work with what you have - the rest is pie in the sky.

Like Griffin with 54% - pretty easy with half the Queensland team in your side. The last two years at the Tigers he would have been closer to 20%. Who is he going to attract - Bennett's cast offs that is about all.
Potter has signed only Patterson, Lulia, Taupau, Richards, Gavet, Lodge and Halatau to my knowledge for a small amount of money - HE DID NOT HAVE ANY MORE MONEY!!!! - two thirds of those have delivered and the other third were only for a little experience as replacements.
Who was he going to buy Inglis, Burgess, etc. on hire purchase.

You work with what you have - Potter has done this and has achieved brilliantly. It is a shame that the off field staff have not done there job as well.

Wake up people it has nothing to do with no one wanting to come here - there is no money for Marquee players or coaches. We do not need rookie coaches or sacked has beens - the one viable alternative - Anthony Griffin would not be as good as Potter in IMO with our roster. Guess what? that leaves us with a coach that has given The Tigers his all - one Michael Potter Esquire.

This is why Potter needs to go,we need a coach like Cleary, players know where they stand and have to perform, and are picked accordingly.
http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/nrl/honestly-key-to-coach-ivan-clearys-success-at-penrith-panthers-says-forward-sika-manu/story-fni3gfvk-1227041827861

The problem is, we have to attract a worthy coach who is wiling to work with a dysfunctional pack of clowns for a board, and second rate facilities for spare change, all the while with a Kick-me sign on his back.

The alternative is we could keep the coach that got us off to a roaring start this season before injuries and back room politics cruelled the Tigers chances.

I'll choose the second alternative.
