Prediction

I have been trying not to jump on the bagging wagon when it comes to Brooks and Moses, and I also missed last weeks game , which I heard was an improvement.
My big problem though , is in trying to understand what the hell are they trying to Do in the team at the moment. Our kicking game is mostly pedestrian at best, and mosty go straight to a player with no pressure, also they seem to do nothing but Catchand pass.
I'll be the first to admit that JT knows a lot more than I do , and I can't imagine that they've been told not to run, but that's the way it looks.
At halftime in tonight's game I was sure that that in the last quarter , both halves would get into the game more, and try and catch the Warriors off guard ,but it was more of the same.
I was actually happy to see Brooksie try a chip and chase even though it didn't come off, as until then the Warriors were able to ignore the halves and concentrat wider.
They didn't have to be in two minds about them at all.
It certainly not helping them that they have both come in so early. It must be hard for them , not having an experienced player in one of those positions.
Maybe I'm expecting too much from them, and I hope they improve and become as sucessful as everyone wants them to be. But a few doubts are creeping in.
I hope my doubts are proved wrong, and Brooks particularly occasionally takes on the line.
Someone mentioned his debut game.and it was a big one for him, but it was his running game that day that made it that success

Too early to call I'd say, but expectations are enormous and totally unfair. Why he doesn't play more freely has me baffled.

Been a few halves with big predictions that failed - Brett Firman, Tim smith come to mind. Way too early to make that call though. He will play a few seasons for sure and will just have to see what pans out.

I understand that both these players will one day be great, but the team can't afford to have them both in the team at the one time at this stage, Brooks played his best games with Anasta outside him, the often mentioned link that Brooks and Moses have because they played juniors together appears to be a distant memory.
I think they should rotate with the NSW Cup halves, one for one or two for two whatever as 6 games is enough to see that collectively they are not yet up to first grade standard and would probably appreciate the drop in intensity in reggies to work on their games

rex2ce,absolutely agree with your comments,I said in an earlier thread,if we take a punt on Brooks and Moses in FG,then why not someone else in their respective positions and see what pans out..our last play options are non existent at the moment,Brooks or Moses should offer something they are the playmakers..,

I remember we had Brooks being bagged about his defence and I believe he has improved in this area with both his commitment and technique. Whilst they have yet to click together anyone who thinks playing together in juniors and then stepping up to NRL has to be kidding themselves as the defensive reads are much better.

He will be better and whilst we lost last night we are showing so much in determination that we are getting better each week. I watched us beat Parramatta last week and win but the team played better tonight evening allowing for the loss.

You don't show all your plays early and I am please where we are thus far and excited about where I think we will be.

Let's hope next week is dry on a fast Leichhardt track and we will see what we can do.

The step up to first grade is gigantic, that's why I always scratch my head at people losing their minds over players who haven't debuted yet. Will Brooks amount to nothing? I doubt it, I'm sure at the very least he'll be solid. Moses is the one more likely to fizzle out. I remember saying the same thing about Matt Groat a couple yrs back and got laughed off the forum. My response was being young doesn't automatically mean you're gonna turn into a beast later, some just don't have it to make it at the top level. At the least I'm willing to say that as a halves pair they could at least end up a poor mans version of Foran and DCE

And that's fine with me, but maybe I'll be remembered as the one who called brooks a dud cause I'll find this post and remind you of it when it happens. I've seen more from Jack bird in 2 games than I have of Brooks. The thing is just like Benji you guys will make excuses for as long as you can before being forced to admit he's average, he's another Jarrod Mullen his defense is woeful and you can throw stats at me all you like but I know what I'm seeing and it's poor. I'll happily eat my words and I hope I'm forced to but if anyone on here thinks Brooks is living up to his potential I'd like to hear your reasons why.

You won't have to find this post - we have all flagged it. Will be coming back at you at 100kmh. This could be your "Richards is a liability."

Get out the knife and fork.

It may be time for Moltzen to enter first grade in either the 1/2 or 5/8 which is the position he plays best. His experience and speed will be bonuses and will get our backline firing.

I trust that Taylor can see the potential of, and has the skills to develop Moses and Brooks. If he thought Drinkwater could do the job better I reckon he'd be playing, and if he thinks either Moses or Brooks are not worth persisting with, they'll be replaced as soon as cap is available.

I also don't think Molten is the answer if the aim is a ball running half.

Even at his best (before injury) Moltzen's kicking game was below par :frowning:

I believe that the majority of WT fans would agree with your comments. Brooks and Moses may have been a star combination in the juniors when they were playing in their own age group but the jump to first grade playing against hardened professionals is a completely different proposition for 20 year olds playing alongside each other in a halves combination.

Several weeks on from this post, not much has changed, while JT might be trying to nurture young players in this side , NRL is a business, the side must win to attract fans, sponsors and the all important ability to be able to offer TPA's when they sign some players whom we will inevitably pay overs for
