Live Game Discussion
Galvin isn’t supposed to use Latu what are you on about?
He needs to get out of the road occasionally and let others show what they can do. For all his touches, we got 1 try.
We all see things differently, but I saw our forwards getting rag dolled, absolutely belted in the first half and if Galvin didn’t take control and prompt players to cone on to the balk, we would have looked like a rudderless mess.
The fact he created a few good attacking raids off the back of little to no go forward was a miracle in itself.
Thank god we had Skelton out there ripping in as our starting forwards offered nothing.
I will add we have nothing to worry about with Laru’s ability , he’s a massive talent who will create havoc for our opponents once he has time and space to play.

I wasn’t overly disappointed with what I saw and the team out there if those two second half goals were converted who knows how the end result would have been with our noses in front. Next week will give me a better indication

I'm still none the wiser if Latu can play or not. Why wouldn’t benji have Galvin in the first half and Latu in the second?
Latu needs to find his voice
Would have helped if he actually stood up and demanded the ball on the last play. I get it’s a trial, result irrelevant etc. But he had a real chance to raise eyebrows and make people believe we have another option outside of Galvin. Instead, he treated it like a training run.

That’s a good point. I thought he was a hog and wanted to see latu play but if the dogs had more ball they would have smashed us first half. Defense / line speed was very poor and Galvin at least kept us on the ball

Only referencing that due to a few comments made attacking Galvin in this regard earlier in the thread

IMO

The good
Galvin effective on the right, just needs to pick his moments.
Kit looks back to his form a couple of years ago, and should be a smoky for the bench, brings impact.
Skelton looked great

The bad
Latu very disappointing. Seems to lack a bit of footy IQ
No one grabbed the second row spot
Johanssen is very fit and his stats probably look great, but I thought he lacked impact
Matamua just doesn’t have it. This should be his last year with us.
Some of our younger outside backs have very little athleticism when you compare to the Dogs backs
Attack in the red zone is very flat

Wingers rushing in consistenly is concerning. You'd have thought we'd have learnt that strategy doesn't work in 2013.
These extra man tries are scored every week every game... It's not that simple to adjust defense quick enough when the attack switch it up... One second theres four attacking players next second five

Maybe Galvins inexperience led him to feel as the experienced one out there he had to control everything.
Good coaching should have prepared him for that.
This is my concern. Either Benji is worried about the repercussions of reigning him in a bit with contract talks looming, or he has green lit him to do whatever he wants out there.

Experience should remind Benji that when he was given free reign himself, the results were inconsistent and when he was forced to pick his moments to inject himself, we played finals footy.

I thought the defensive structures looked good. Especially on block plays . Soo many times they looked to have an overlap only for the space to disappear ,with covering defense and communication. Even when they scored when lob jammed , I was little frustrated because he didn’t need to. It looked like numbers were there . A far cry from last year .

Luai wont have it mate. The moment Galvin and his hog ways , leads to getting in jahromes way , will be the moment he gets sprayed .
