LIVE GAME Preseason Challenge v Canterbury

Live Game Discussion
I was a bit nervous before the game considering the dogs had some handy forwards in their side. I think maybe 4 played in their finals team last year. You throw in Taafe, Huchison and Amone and they had far more experience than us. Definitely moments we lost the ruck and Dogs got on top but overall thought we went ok. It was nice to see a couple of the young blokes impress. We will get a better guide obviously this week. Hopefully our big names get decent minutes

Why were you nervous about a trial with a half a team of reserve graders?

Listened to the Bloke review,

Some very interesting and positive stats for some

Fattape, Skelton good numbers

Tim Johanssen 70 post contact metres and 150+ metres for Lobb

Literally 2 players who played on Sunday will be in the round 1 team . I can even see a world where Fainu doesn’t get the bench spot , whilst Api sits out round 1 .
I really don’t know why people are hellbent on tearing apart a trial
Skelton and Galvin for those who didn’t know who I was insinuating .
A lot to work on … sure . But even that last 20 where we played a lot of SG ball and flegg players , they were playing a fair chunk of thier NSW cup team.
It’s really hard to gauge anything from that game . I thought Kit and Tim johannson looked good , same with Broederlow .
And Skelton was absolutely damaging . He is going to be such a weapon out of yardage . Looked like a man against boys off those kickoffs .
The defence looks like the structures are working , as well . Considering it really felt like the dogs were playing a cynical game in defence and lying all over the ruck .
Hopefully the refs , who are evaluated just as much as the players are from that game , walk away and pull the dogs up this type of gamesmanship .
That was a bad performance from butler I thought . He seemed unfit to me, which led to bad calls .

Still putting too much stock into it
Not really. Some of those younger guys who copped week in week out hidings last year will have a few mental demons. A hiding yesterday would’ve hurt a few. Its not the result but their own performance is what they judge themselves on in trials.

It’s a trial mate, against another team of mostly reserve graders. It’s not a big deal

Do you really think Galvin can replicate Nathan Cleary?
Obviously not saying he can play to that standard just yet, but similar in way of his high energy on the ball style of play.
We will all see how it works out very soon, but I get the impression Luai is happy to let someone else be the more dominant playmaker.

Our line speed in defense was not up to standard and our options in attack at times was like watching u/15's division 2 very poor.

Well the Jersey flegg & Nsw Cup coaches can figure that out … as the majority of players from this game are from those divisions.

So all the talk of him saying he wants to be Batman instead of Robin meant he actually was happy to come and play second fiddle? As if.

If Benji plays Galvin as the main man and Luai 2nd fiddle we should march down to concord and drag him out ourselves.

Did u not see how Galvin destroyed our attack yesterday? He is the one that needs to be kept in a lane and stick to s simple role, not Luai
