LIVE GAME Preseason Challenge v Eels

Live Game Discussion
Luai and Latu in the halves, Galvin and AD in the centres gives so many attacking options. That's four great running, passing and kicking games ( not so much AD passing ). Defensive question marks, but offensively sensational. Turuva and Skelton out wide and Bula at the back. There's 30 points a game right there.
Galvin would be useless out in the centres, his game is all about ball playing not running out in the centres

I think this is a very common misconception - Bula was 13th in the ENTIRE league for kick return metres last season

The way he runs he does often look like he is just cruising around, but I think that's his running style more than anything. I would like to see him more involved in games however, it's a shame he's missed the trials
I'm not really anti-Bula (beyond thinking he is a little over rated) but is 13th for kick return metres really a wrap? I assume it is 12 other fullbacks in front of him, then factoring in a few first choice fullbacks missed a lot of games this would have him ranked as one of the worst fullbacks in the comp for kick return metres.
Though I also think the team failing to force long kicks is the problem more so than any failings by Bula.

I think it’s very likely this time next year one of Latu or Galvin will have left the club. Neither will want to move from the halves because that’s where the big money is and at this stage of their careers, they shouldn’t move. With Luai signed up we only have one spot. If Galvin re-signs, Latu will be gone. If Galvin and Moses stuff around and play games, Latu Fainu come on down….
We just need to make the right choice. And we need to get a good trade for the other player who moves on because there will be plenty of demand.

Rubbish one or the other will have to play lock , and if they are still gun players then there money should be the same , I bet u yeo for panthers is on very good money

Nearly 200 metres more than Paps, same number of games.

First up - I like Bula. 😊

As for 13th in kr meters, I see it as another example of stats not telling the story.

I think your last sentence is why people would say it's a decent effort by him.

Last season the tigers had a points differential of - 287. That's 99 points worse than the next worst - 16th placed Souths.

So I'd say the Tigers' opposition scored more tries than any other teams, which means that they very likely spent far more time with possession in the Tigers' half...per your point.

Without considering intangibles such as try line defensive efforts that result in a line drop out or straight turnovers at the line, the overall opportunity for Bula to rack up pre contact metres is less than it is for fullbacks playing for teams who are more often able to force longer kicks, which inflate kr metre stats.

Over the course of a season, I think it's pretty surprising he even got as high as 13th.

TDS should have been blamed. He was all over the guy and just fell off. Piss poor effort. Needed a rev up. AD may not have been blameless, but that was TDS.
It was not TDS best game. He was also responsible for not locking the ball up on a couple of occasions. One led to a try. He also was confused when not packing a scrum which led to the penalty which cost us a try. He will learn but probably in KOE.
