Wests Tigers Interim Coach Andrew Webster and Aaron Woods spoke to the media following the team's 28-6 defeat to the St. George-Illawarra Dragons on Sunday.

Webster stated that despite the scoreline and 14-0 deficit at half-time, his side had created more than enough opportunities to put points on the board throughout the match.

“I thought we were in the game, we had plenty of opportunity on our line," he said.

" But we got disheartened with what we were doing.

"We dropped the ball over the line and then they go down our end and score. We’ve got to execute better but we’ve also got to get on to our next job and that’s to defend.

"Obviously I know they are up 14-0 at half-time but we had enough opportunity to score points there in the first half and the second half, which is disappointing in the end."

Webster said that despite conceding four tries down the right hand side of the field, he was adamant the mistakes could be rectified ahead of the team's clash against the Cowboys.

“Its an easy fix," he enthused.

"We know what’s wrong, we need to play the tackles more, they’re really quick to play the ball.

"We’re just not seeing it coming, we’ve got to get better at that.

Woods was confident the team weren't going to lose heart despite the defeat.

“Its tough at the moment with everything that’s happening, but I have 100% faith in the boys we have here," he said.

"It's not as if we’re not trying. We had a lot of opportunities but we just have to capitalise it.”

Webster also provided an injury update on hooker Matt Ballin, who did not return for the second half after picking up a knee injury in his first game of season 2017.

“It's not the knee he’s had problems with, it’s the other knee," he said.

"At half time we made the call to not let him go back out there.

"We’re not sure how serious it is.”

Its an easy fix says one of the guys responsible for our defensive structure about the 4 tries down the right hand side again, for the umpteenth time….Seems like a nice bloke, bloody clueless coach though.

I feel sorry for Webster trying to look for positives in this situation. It's not his fault and it wasn't JT's fault. We really need to make some tough decisions on retention and I just hope that Cleary is the man to do it.

Webster is on a hiding to nothing trying to do something with this outfit. Yes, he is one of the assistants responsible for our defensive structure but he doesn't have the cattle capable of implementing it.

It wont be an easy fix for a good coach like Bennett, Bellamy or big Mal so what makes him think it will be an easy fix for him

They have been letting the tries in that corner on a consistent level for the last 2 seasons, doubt its as easy as you make it Andy!

I threw up when Webster said "fixing up the right hand side defence " was an easy fix !

i think he had prepared the responses last night and was reading off a script today

Taylor used to say there were positives after 56 odd belting by the Raiders

He's a day late for April Fools jokes

Woods needs to shut his mouth. They need to start sending ET or Lawrence to the presser's. Even Sue. Guys we know are committed to the club next year.

If we continue to lose games like this i suspect neither Teddy nor Woodsy will hang around for 2018

No one wants to play in a losing team week in week out and i doubt the Super Stars will have a stomach for it

I'm over Woods , wish he'd piss off .

So much for being our fearless leader .

What a numpty… kev on at least 4 occasions was defending near the goal posts with Nofo having at one time 4 defenders alone and 40mtrs.

Quick play the balls is not the issue our defensive structure is terrible and Kev isn't smart enough to spot his man up.

It really doesn't matter what our defensive structure is, we don't have the players to effectively implement it. As well, if you miss 43 tackles, there is no structure to deal with that.

Only 2 weeks in and already Webster has lost all of his energy and gone to the delusional state of 'easy fix' and 'positive performance.'

I want a coach that will come to the press conference and say: Look that wasn't good enough. We played really poorly today and if the players want to keep playing first grade they're going to have to improve really quickly.

I'm so sick of hearing that we didn't play that bad and it's an easy fix. They just sound stupid when they say it cos it's blatantly obvious that it's not true.

It's at a point where you can only laugh at the right side defence. It's beyond humiliating. Teams just know to go there when they play us. Wouldn't be surprised if it were a running joke among players from other clubs. That's how embarrassing it is.

Woods look like a bloke that is over it.

Not much passion on show all year for him off the field.

Bad leader of this club.
