Meanwhile, following on from the successful launch of Rugby League in the United Arab Emirates lead by former English Super league star Wayne McDonald, an as yet unnamed Sheikh from the county has been running the rule over sides in both hemispheres with an eye to taking over a club on either side of the globe.

The sheik was in Sydney and Manchester over the past month and it's believed he is interested in buying clubs from those regions.

The latest on this from our man in Sydney, Brian Battese, who have us this quote:

"I have been informed that the teams at the heart of the speculation are Wests Tigers and English Super League side Salford City Reds."

"And that both deals are "imminent".

Timing…

Though...this wayne mcdonald has done work in the UAE

Private ownership…Hmm, wonder how serious this unnamed sheik is, and what are the Tigers worth? And what would be the benefits be?

hahaha looks like a guy I used to work with years ago in a bakery. He loved the matrix movies. Infact he said it was real.

Thought that was the case. Why on earth would a sheik have an interest in a competition or rather, brand that has next to no global exposure. Gotta love april 1.

If it was serious, the thing that worries me about private ownership is what happens when the owner dies? Maybe his daughter isnt a league fan and where left us sh… creek.

This isn't as funny s it sounds. Although this is a prank, i know for a fact that the guys at Liugong who used to be our sleeve sponsors had introduced a Shiekh to Wests Tigers management last year regarding a percentage ownership. He is big in the racehorse auctions and enjoyed the matches while he was out here with the Liugong guys and was keen to invest.

I am not sure if this is still going on, however there was definately interest and discussions.
