Apologies that I missed the first question, there is a lot of posts on here so i appreciate everyone patience as I try and get through as many as I can. I've only got 20 min this morning so I'll dive in.
The process i am driving is that internally we build a detailed plan of everything that needs to be achieved and then start ticking them off one by one. From scouts, player payments, coach education, coach development, player welfare, medical, strength and conditioning resources, training facilities, technology (GPS, video), pathways structures, recruitment resources, scouts, targeted academies, schools, accommodation, club philosophy & technical development the list goes on on so the question is what is the most impactful and important areas to throw resources at in 2027, then 2028 and 2029 onwards.
The biggest challenge that we are trying to navigate is what is being caused by having the extra man on the bench. If we have KOE games before the NRL then key players end up missing game time, if we have KOE cup on after NRL then the experience is pretty poor with game either very late or removed from the NRL match day experience. This is a difficult one to solve so it is probably just trying to get a consistent balance between the two.
Good question, to be honest I don't have a full picture but i will ask. I know there was an alignment with Kayo subscription price times that I think caused some mis alignment. I haven't looked at Bar TV but I am very glad to be able to access this so makes sense to get more members using it.
Council hasn't released these yet but from what i have seen they are not far away from the final designs.
We are building an apples for apples report to better understand the funding gaps. there is a lot of mixed information out there and hard to truly judge the different expenditures. I don't have a clear picture yet but what is stark for me is the training facilities that our pathways have access to. One of my key roles is to work closely with HBG to ensure we have what we need for the short and long term.
As injury updates often change daily it is hard to keep up to speed myself. We do aim to drive the major updates via our socials and should be the main source of information. Now that we have Wayne Cousins back in our media team I'm confident there will be more regular updates coming through. Sometimes these are tactical or confidential as well. It is one for us to keep working on
Of course I am very passionate about this space and the work that Empower does. this impacts real lives and makes real change, it makes it all worth the hard work to know that there is a bigger picture at play here. We have grown significantly here and will keep monitoring the refinement on the program. Western Sydney University play a huge role here in making sure we have evidence based programs and track the results independently.
I'm the CEO so yes I am in charge - I do however fundamentally want to empower all staff to be the experts in their field. I use the metaphor that a Hospital CEO doesn't know how to do brain surgery but he needs to make sure the brain surgeon has the tools and equipment to do their job the best they can.
Bequests are a revenue stream that whilst morbid they can be very for filling for families to now their loved ones are leaving a legacy with their club. the Australian Sports foundation has a facility to process these that ensure it doesn't all get eaten up by tax as well. It is always a hard topic to promote as social media and fan culture would likely take a promotion of this sort into an inappropriate area. So it is on the agenda, just well down the list.
I haven't consider but happy to join. however I'll decline the vice president role as I have too much on my plate at the moment.
This is where we need to put as much resource as we can for the long term - it is a big ocean but I am passionate about building this for the long term
No disrespect and I think Benji has a long coaching career ahead of him, but is there any inclination to get some more experience into that group, particularly a person with a record of success within the NRL. It’s not a surprise that results trended upwards last time we brought someone like that in.
I appreciate the feedback - We will keep working and building here to deliver the best match day we can. C-town next year will have a huge emphasis on this. My motherhood statement is that we need to turn match days into events and events into festivals.
Everything operationally is still flowing from the structure and plan that was put in place by Richo. Of course it is evolving and there is a long term scope and view to this being added.
