Darius Boyd and Josh McGuire have been included in a familiar-looking Queensland XXXX Maroons side to face NSW in next Wednesday's Holden State of Origin I clash at ANZ Stadium.

Boyd will again line up on the wing for Queensland despite only playing two games this season since returning from injury, while McGuire will make his Origin debut from the interchange.

Daly Cherry-Evans has been named as the backline utility on the bench but is carrying an elbow injury and could be replaced by Michael Morgan before next week's game.

Jacob Lillyman returns to the side on the bench, while Roosters young gun Dylan Napa has been named 18th man.

Queensland coach Mal Meninga, who has agreed to coach the Maroons for another three years, said Cherry-Evans was under an injury cloud after Manly's loss to Penrith on Monday night.

"We're awaiting results from a scan and we'll know a bit more this afternoon and will make more judgements later on today," Meninga said.

"We don't know the extent of the injury, we'll talk to Daly first.

"We're very happy with the depth of the squad. It's great to see everyone together again."

Maroons skipper Cameron Smith had some drama of his own over the weekend, taking an early guilty plea for a dangerous contact charge which makes him free to play in Origin 1.

"I'm glad to be available for game one," Smith said.

"Last year was pretty disappointing – it's pretty hard to let go of that shield. We're determined to play a good game in Sydney and get the series off to a good start.

"Our goal this week will be making sure we train exceptionally well."

Still don't get how McGuire can represent SAMOA and 3 weeks later play for Queensland…..wait wait yes I do....

I reckon NSW have the better players coming through though and when you consider that alot of the players already in the side are pretty young, they might be better positioned for future years.

Still think we will lose this series though, you can't deny that QLD have had a team of champions over the past 10 years. Their time is coming to an end though

You do have to laugh at the QLD team presentation though. Comes across as a little try-hard..

Arguably QLD have fielded the strongest league team in history the last decade and have reaped the rewards. QLD supports have also let it get to their heads and seem to forget the tides of rugby league. NSW was dominant for 14 years between 1992 - 2005\. Blues 9 series, QLD 3 Series, Draw 2 Series. The era of Johns, Fittler and Daley. QLD was dominant during the 80's and within the last decade. Now we are on the cusp of NSW's time again.

Not a single one of those younger chaps you named happy strike worry into the heart of a New South Wales Supporter. No more worrying then a Farah, Dugan, Pearce, Woods line up currently does to QLD supporters.

I think from 2016 QLD will come plummeting back down to reality when 75% of one of the greatest rugby league sides to lace up the boots retire and both team rosters will be more even, however I think with the blooding of younger guys now, the desire to make QLD pay and the promise of a Brooks, Moses, Teddy spine from a club level to rep level (ala Melbourne with Smith, Cronk, Slater) from 2017 onwards NSW will have the upper hand by a long ways and it will be time to remember and remind them just how big those QLD heads grew over the last 10 years.

Well said FD,the only problem is the Qlders will find some other reason to swell their already fat heads…its in their makeup.....

There's plenty more to add to that list as well, which is exciting. First of which comes to mind would be Docker. Love that guy.

Looks like we are in for another three slogfests, they will both play to the Jason Taylors blue print, plenty of one out stuff and bugger all football

Yeah if that's case I think all the New Zealanders should be available for Origin as well.

The Qld team is pretty much as expected, though I would've dropped old man Myles, replaced him with McGuire and promoted Napa to the bench just to get some freshness in the forwards.

Well if NSW aren't quick enough to snap up Yuri Popavanskiavich that's their issue

Not Mal's

Anyway , your biggest issue in about ten years time will be Wests Tigers gun recruit from Gladstone , a wrecking ball known to you at the moment as EB and he will be a superstar
