Questions for players

When I was a kid I used to go into the sheds after the games.
What surprised me is the nudity. Benny Elias, Siro and Blocker all went around in the raw.
News people, fans not even bothered with it all.
Blocker has a small member from recollection.

How did you ever recover from that Matchball? That would've ruined me for life! Nightmares! 😱pen_mouth:

Different times. Political correctness wasn't invented yet.
Women were interviewing players in the nude. Seriously.
They would sign autographs fresh out the shower.
These days they don't just let anyone into the sheds.

I can back this up too, as a youngster my grandfather worked for a radio station in Canberra with the guy who was Victor the Viking (Raiders mascot) I used to carry his head (the costume, not the humans) around in a garbage bag and go into the sheds after the games, this was back in Canberra's glory days, Meninga, Stuart, Daley, Chika Ferguson, Lazo etc. Players nude everywhere, women in there, media, fans. It was a real shock to me the first time I went in as a 9-10yr old kid I'll tell ya.
Never forget when West's who were celler dwellers in those years beat them at home, I walked in the sheds after the game and Gary Coyne was sitting by himself crying, for me as a kid it was the first time I'd seen a grown man cry.

I'm positive Ben isn't 13\. I have a 13 yo son (turning 14 soon) and all he does is grunt at me.

My eldest is 13, Plays piano, violin

Reads prolifically, Writes poetry and elequent… Oh yes he can kick most adults heads in as well.

Well done Ben, Good on you for sticking with the Tigers. It isnt easy at times

Does he correct your typos?

Why do you think your 13 yr old son can kick most adults heads in? Weird thing to say.

Hes getting really really big (Im.not) and a handy kick boxer.

Just saying…. Dads pride I guess.

I tried out for the Tigers in 1984 I think from memory.. the good thing about the club back in them days they never separated you from the first graders, so basically for a few weeks I was training with the first grade team, I remember thinking to myself how fit Roachy and Sirro were and I did piggy back some of them up the hill…. I also played a couple of games at Leichardt oval. before my days were over I played against Bruiser Clarke, Ray Brown from Manly, Graham Buckley from St george and a couple of others, my cousins are..Teddy Goodwin and Gary Pethybridge as a boy I used to mingle with these guys in the sheds after the game, I also played 10 years of junior football with Scoty Gale ...Old war stories these days from the old fox.
