Questions for players

When I was a kid I used to go into the sheds after the games.
What surprised me is the nudity. Benny Elias, Siro and Blocker all went around in the raw.
News people, fans not even bothered with it all.
Blocker has a small member from recollection.

We were invited into the sheds at LO after a game in 05….some things you cannot unsee, no matter how hard you try to forget.... There is a reason Patty Richards had such a massive boot on him....

I only went autograph hunting in the sheds once, after a Balmain game in 1992\. We would have been 9 years old.
Steve Roach is the only player I didn't get an autograph from, as he was injured and Alan Jones ordered us out of the way as he was carried out the door.

My mate and I had a go running down the tunnel onto the field after everyone had gone. Souvineered a carboard tube corner post, cos every kid's gotta do that once. Good times.

My time in the sheds last night was unreal.

First, I had a talk to Justin Pascoe and he was filthy about the result and descibed it as dissapointing. He said he is happy how the club is going with Ivan and the club is stable.

Then, Jacob Liddle came up to me with a present. It was a picture of me that said: Happy 13th Birthday Ben, from the 2017 Wests Tigers. It was signed by most of the players. Liddle is now my new favourite player!

I then got a few photos with MWZ, JLJ, Kev, Ava, Eisnhuth, Grant, Tedesco, Woods, Nofoaluma, Twal and Lawrence.

I had a chat with Nofoaluma and he says that he is really happy at the moment and that the club has a plan of what is going on. He spent alot of time with me and he seemed pretty interested in my present

Teddy seems a bit upset and he is a bit grumpy. I think that Teddy thinks that he is way better than this club and doesn't want to be associated with a team at the bottom of the ladder.

I also was talking to Woods at the end and he is the best bloke you can ever meet. We were talking about Moses and he said, "Yeah we're good mates but he is on the other team, f*ck him!"
He also seems like he is sad to be leaving the tigers but he is going to make the most of his time while he is here. He also winked at me saying that he will be back here at the end… I said to him, "Why don't the Bulldogs have a website. Because they cant string 3 WWW in a row." He said that they're struggling at the moment and can't even get one.

Grant and Lawrence are really nice guys as well, they both were taking lots of photos and giving signatures and they didn't seem in a rush to get out (I also got Grant's signiture on my hat).

But I still can't believe I got the present from Liddle!!! That was the best moment of the entire night by far.

Glad that you enjoyed it so much and think Liddle is a good choice as everything points to him being a top quality player when injury free.

Good one Ben. I remember the excitement as a young lad going into the sheds.
You get a different perspective once you get chatting with them.

Happy Birthday.

Good on you Ben. Thanks for the report and what a great way for a young fan to spend his birthday - they nearly got the win for you.

Sounds like a huge moment for you Ben! It's good to hear that our fans can still have positive interactions with the players. Happy birthday mate

Thanks for sharing this with us Ben, sounds like you had an experience that will stay with you for a long time….sounds like most of the players looked after you too which is great to hear...happy Birthday too.

Good on you Ben,happy birthday mate, I'm wrapped that you had an unforgetable experience for your special day from your favourite team and players…these type of days should happen more often for the young ones in our communities its what rugby league is all about...
In my day when I played in the Riverine, some days we gave the kids footballs and the looks on their faces was an experience in itself...well-done Wests Tigers....
