The problem with this forum, and it has been a problem for more than a dozen years now, is that it is the meeting place for club shills and happy clappers. Everyone else is made feel like they are on borrowed time and/or not welcome.
This club has not seen enough success for people to fight to the death defending it.
Believe it or not I and many others consider those who get stuck into the club, trying to hold the administration, coaching and players accountable for disaster upon disaster are just as big, if not bigger fans than those who blindly follow along.
Swearing is not the problem on here, having an opinion that differs to and does not tow the club line is so thoroughly and aggressively attacked that it has introduced what is the biggest problem on here…bullying. Gangbangs are the norm. The pile on often swift and furious. If you dare to argue/fight back, the DMs start flowing to the mods that person X is a trouble maker and from then on your papers are marked. It has been happening for a long long time and all of the worst perpetrators have been prominent in this very thread.
You can bash places like Discord, League Unlimited and others as cesspools all you like. At least those forums believe in diversity of opinion, embrace originality, respect that everyone has something to say and afford posters the ability to express themselves as real football fans do.
"Bigger fans"? "Real football fans"? No such thing. There's just opinions. I personally think it's insulting to everyone to suggest that being in one camp or another makes you more of a fan.
Wests Tigers aren't the CCP - they are almost powerless to stop criticism, and if anything the club cops more criticism than they do commendation; understandably so. The sum volume of commentary directed at Wests Tigers certainly doesn't lean towards favourable, so I struggle to understand how this forum may some how be a magical last fortress of the "shills and happy-clappers". This forum is not an official offshoot of the WT club, nor is it policed by the WT club - they have no power over it.
The difference between LU and this forum isn't that LU embraces diversity or appreciates all expression, it's that LU literally doesn't care about you at all.
I’ve gotta say , from what I can tell it’s the exact opposite of what your saying . Eg. Say brooks should be our half moving forward . Now watch the endless hate come piling in. Or that you think Pascoe is a good CEO but a crappy runner of the footy club . Once again it’s a pile on .
IMO it’s just a case of whichever tribe your on on any subject will depend on whether you view yourself as a victim or not .
And it’s not constructive or offering anything to call someone a fanboy , or the players a coward etc . Which in the post previous to this , he goes right into doing it .
If you can’t see the Forrest from the trees , I’ll lay it out for you . When you’re condescending , and inflammatory remarks like calling people fanboys or calling someone a happy clapper it’s more than likely going to lead to a response that’s not gonna be in the line of go take a jump . Then when enough people pile on , on the other way . Then you believe it’s all bullying and your the victim . When in actuality it’s the forum equivalent of walking into a bar and calling all the blokes in thier soft and head butting the nearest to you . They then beat the crap out of you .
Also the opposite is true . It’s why I rarely post on the Luke brooks thread anymore . Because the moment I say he’s not that bad , the same old suspects come right after me . Is that not bullying as well?
It’s all relative .
What I’ve found is the majority don’t like when the minority has their opinion. Brooks and Liddle are classic examples. The moment you offer an alternate view and are prepared to stand by it and not fall in line, that’s when the fanboy calls come into it. You get called a troll or are just looking to ruffle feathers. However, that’s way it is. I’m not going to cry and complain about being targeted, because I like most, give as good as I get.
