R.I.P. Dean Jones

Wow, seriously only watched some classic matches a few weeks back and Jones, Boon and Jonty Rhodes were the ones who really caught my attention.
I'd only ever known him as a commentator and while I'd never actually seen any of the said cricketers play until then - and am yet to see the likes of Lara or Richards play - he was the most remarkable 1 day batsman I've ever watched and could've easily been as great for T20.

This is a great little clip about the Dean Jones / Richard Hadlee rivalry. Gives you an indication of what a great bloke Deano was. Hadlee's bowling in that series was as good as any I have seen and Jones said that he used to get him out for fun.

I heard this story that Jones was having a really good year with the bat averaging around 66. He was in a bar drinking and Sir Donald Bradman was walking past. Jones mentioned to Bradman that he was having a good year and asked him if he was batting now what would he average. Bradman stared at Jones and then said 75 but added I am 86.

Yeah taken way to soon Deano. Played a huge role in the resurgence of Australian cricket post Chappell Marsh and Lillie. Exciting to watch in the field as well as his batting.
Vale Dean Mervyn Jones
