I don’t understand how Lucy hasn’t been dropped to the bench already, even live at games it’s clear as day he struggles with the defensive work load. Always slow to get back into line, no urgency etc.

I can only imagine Madge had either given him a rocket and a chance at redemption , or there are no capable replacements in reserve grade.

Doueihi and Noff would both be picked up by other clubs. The defensive issues we have are a result of a lack of line speed (attitude), and desire (playing for each other) right across the park. Other teams shouldn’t be able to just shift the ball effortlessly on tackle one or two, you are supposed to earn that right. The bulk of the tries against Melbourne were around Luciano and his centre but the guys inside them need to be working harder too. It’s over simplistic to just blame the guys who are standing out wide.

How good would it be for us fans to see our team do the following:
- have good line speed in defence
- work hard off the ball, especially covering gaps in defence
- try throwing the ball around to actually show you enjoy the game.
None of this, besides the last point, requires a lot of skill, just attitude. If the team did all these things, I wouldn't care if they made mistakes.
