Raiders eyeing Tiger Tim

THE Canberra Raiders have shown some interest in signing Test coach Tim Sheens to help out David Furner next year.

Furner raised the idea with Sheens when they were in camp together with the Kangaroos in Townsville last month.

"If Sheensy was available, he'd be very handy to have," Furner said. "I've known him for a long time.

"We'll see what happens when he sorts out his business at the Wests Tigers and Test coaching job

Surely this would work for both parties.

Tim can leave and work with a team where he would be seen as a bit of a hero and working with Furner who he taught the fundamentals of coaching to would work much better for him than working with Potter who appears more strong willed.

Hopefully a deal can be struck with a reasonable pay out from the Tigers and a new job to come home too

Maybe it's me being cynical, but I feel Tim is going nowhere until he is paid what he is owed. It would suit Canberra too if the story is true, Tigers give Tim just under $1m, he may work for them a little cheaper, as he won't exactly need the money. I'm afraid he's not going to anywhere to soon unless we pay him

That would be in keeping with his stubborn personality, so it wouldn't surprise me if you're right there, Kiwitiger.

Good on ya Tim,I hope it all works out for him. After such along time with us I think that he will love going back to canberra.

Well the Cowboys sure as hell don't want him back

I love stirring them up with telling them he is heading back as an assistant coach there

Not sure why everyone who thinks Sheens is stubborn and arrogant. He really isnt.

Just because a bloke thinks differently to you about where a bloke should play football does not make him arrogant and stubborn.

The anti-sheens stuff on here is bordering on ridiculous. Does anyone here actually know the guy?? I dare you to walk away from two years of your annual salary after being told you were no longer needed, especially at age 62\. They made the decision to re sign him, they should pay him out. Simple. End of story

Accusing him of being egocentric, stubborn or whatever because he wants to feed himself for the next few years shows the mentality of some people on this site…

Agree with MT's post 100%,couldn,t have put it better myself. Tim Sheens may not have been the greatest Coach in the NRL I thought he should have gone 2 years ago but we resigned him so who,s fault is that.
Don't bag out on a guy who only wants what is rightfully his, I,m sure all of us would want our payout to.

Agree with everything that melbourne tiger has said. We all forget what he has done for our club. He took a rabble of a club to a premiership in 05\. We have been a bit dissapointing since although 2010 and 2011 were good years.

I for 1 am very grateful to tim and its not his fault that someone decided to sign him for 2 more years and then sack him.
